Techno is the new trance. And trance, as represented by the acts listed in the OP, has become a parody of itself.

Moki, i really did try to listen to the music, and dance to it. I am as open minded about music as anybody can be. It just didnt get in. It was too much Techno.

So anyway, Moki, you know what i did firsat thing when i got back home -- i put on these beauties:

Amen!

yeah, beautiful indeed. btw i understand you perfectly and i know how you feel. i used to try to change it through public speaking as well, but i think, the only thing i got from it, was that i was labeled narrow minded and a close mind. so i left it. one has to have the wisdom to accept the things that he cannot change and not lose time. just realize who is the one to go.

i am sure there are still nice events that are trully psychedelic. btw i havents seen one this year. i put the beauties too and just continue my individual trance movement in private.

oh and btw i dont know if haldolium is the best example of beautiful development of trance music but ok. i used to like haldolium a lot. till one point.

and btw i try to dance and listen as well. it just doesnt work. and btw i also have an eye for interesting females. really. i like them a lot and i couldnt live without them. especially cause they are extremely rare in the alternative circles ( i mean the real activists are rare ) but i think that the chance for me to meet interesting psychedelic ladies is bigger on a real psy event and not on a techno house event. i just have different criteria for attractive females. and they are mostly not on drugs and over the average intelligence. not sure that you will ever find this generally in a big percentage in the techno circles.

but whatever. i also did not expect that isratrance has become so technoid since the times 4-5 years ago.

There's such a wealth of artists and styles these days that IMO one must (as a partygoer) check out the acts beforehand on myspace or so if you're not already familiar with them.

Its fruitless to complain about the music itself - instead find out about the acts and then either go or don't go.

Personally, being familiar with the new sound of azax etc I would never have attended

Totaly agry with, there are plenty of good artist
out there. But the problam is not the artist. Its the
listener and the one who goes to parties
and settles for medum music.           Now say the magic words: Bleep Bleep Deep Deep Wham.....

Do you know what Techno is? Techno has none of those things.

This is techno:

If psytrance started to sound more like techno that would be great in my opinion. Unfortunately a lot of artists these days are taking too much influence from electro house/tech house/whatever the fuck you wanna call it, which I dislike

Of course most of you just put all of it into the category of "not psytrance" so you care very little about the distinctions

^^ agree

In fact the right thing to say its that what you hear was like "electro house".

In fact you should hear some techno, it has many things in common with psytrance. They are brothers.           "The dedication to repetition — the search for nirvana in a single held tone or an endlessly cycling rhythm — is one of electronic music's noblest gestures."

Yah from what I gather reading various articles, the Goa scene was mostly kicked off when someone introduced some psychedelic rock musicians to european techno.

In the early 90s, as far as I can tell, there were two types of music called "techno". Detroit-style techno which is funky and soulful, and was mostly influenced by funk, early electronic like giorgio moroder and kraftwerk, and chicago house:

And european-style techno which is more evil and electronic sounding, and was mostly influenced by the acid house phenomenon of the late 80s:

The latter sound's influence can be easily heard in early works of Juno Reactor, for example, but goa trance evolved kind of in isolation so a lot of its style is of its own kind.

Nowadays, when you are talking about "techno" you are usually talking about either the "new detroit" style, as shown by the technasia video above.

The "minimal" style, which kind of blends with microhouse and tech house a little bit:

And the "schranz" and "hardtechno" styles (I am not sure exactly what the distinction is) which are influenced by dutch hardcore and industrial/powernoise:

(ignore the "minimal" text, the person making this video has no idea)

On the other hand, the "trance" genre (which should not be confused with psytrance as it is only SLIGHTLY related), has much more of its influence in house than techno, and is only just now starting to take techno influence. Within that there has traditionally been the "acid trance" style:

The "hard trance" style, which of recently most people have given up on except for some british artists making cheesy shit. It is hard for me to find a good example of hard trance because I am not that familiar, but it sounds pretty much like this, albeit a bit slower:

And the "progressive trance" style which around 2000 pushed the other two styles out of the spotlight and became the new definition of "trance". Progressive trance and progressive house have since pretty much merged and now sound a lot like minimal/tech house. For comparison:

Old progressive trance

New progressive trance/house (most just say "progressive")

Of course why would any of you care, obviously any music which is not psytrance is crap!

you're giving techno a bad name. Real techno is much better than what those fools you mention are playing.
