Hello,
I got to share this with you.
Ive been listening to trance music for about 12 years. of course for the past couple of years i havent been very updated as i got older...but i still love the music.
I think that this past weekend was the first time that i actually didnt like trance music at all. and the reason is -- it sounded like Techno!!
i went to this party and the line up was
220 Voltz
switch
azax syndrom
punchline
dror&Golan
and the great Ofer Oforia
except for Oforia who played psy trance -- the rest played what i consider to be borderline Techno. It was not trance. All those breaks, singing and talking, and flip flops, and weird effects...too much balagan.
Anyway, just wanted to share my thoughts with you.
new music of today -- its just not what it used to be.

now they will start telling you that you are a close mind:))))))))). dont start such a topic here dear (hehehe i am an experienced forum user and can only advise you not to do this here:)))))).
anyway. so? what do we do? listen to all stuff at home only. being old fashioned. well anyway, for me 2009 was the year of the od classics. good music is immortal.

Moki, i really did try to listen to the music, and dance to it. I am as open minded about music as anybody can be. It just didnt get in. It was too much Techno.
So anyway, Moki, you know what i did firsat thing when i got back home -- i put on these beauties:
Space Cat -- C4 (wow the mornings i had with the track....acchhhhhh)
Delirious -- Analog Booster (my all time favorite track to open a set)
Sesto Sento -- Spank To Tor (one of the best crazy tracks)
Logic Bomb -- Computers and Microprocessors RMX (perfect guitars)
Anything by Cosma
Haldolium -- One of these Days (pumping it like no other)
Protoculture -- new directions (beautiful piece
Hllucinogen -- milluniom (south africa will never be the same after this one)
Infectced Mushroom -- nothing comes easy (nothing but a got trip)
Fuzzion -- brown eyed Girl RMX (can anybody say scream???)
Infected Mushroom and Xerox -- Gravity Waves -- Aaaaaaaaa Yeoooooo woho'oooooo

not sure how to categorise it...but it definitly wasnt pst trance, goa trance, or progressive trance.
btw, I Dont mean to offend anybody, especially not the artists. but i just couldnt enjoy it or dance to it.
on another note -- the girl at the party were SMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOKING HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ive been to many parties in my life time and i can say that with out a doubt in my mind -- i have never EVER seen soooooooooo much amazing, beautiful , gorgeous girls in one party (trance or no trance). It was rediculous!!!

Techno and Trance..who can actually sit back and distinguish between the same.
Bottom line is u didnt enjoyed...as u said that you were comin back to the scene after few years of the gap...just wish to bring to ur attention during these few years trance has evovled big time and so has the softwares...
I can compare you to a man who was born in early 50's and he slept for 30 years and he just woke up and nw he is saying i dont like ABS.
I have good amount of goa and early 90's stuff but till date i just cant digest that music i dnt knw..may b coz i m listening to all the stuff which is after 2004...so my ears jst cnt adjust to early 90's stuff..
U dnt like my music and I dnt like ur music ..lol...but the bottomline is music is always good...artists are always tryin their best, its the people who needs to relax n take a chill pill...coz at the end its just music...made for us and made for us to enjoy..so enjopy...
in that party u didnt danced bt i am sure my young frnds mst b dancing their ass off, hwever u cme hme n put on sum of ur best stuff n i m sure u mst hv danced or atleast enjoyed to the maximum...that's it.
respect the music in all forms.

There's such a wealth of artists and styles these days that IMO one must (as a partygoer) check out the acts beforehand on myspace or so if you're not already familiar with them.
Its fruitless to complain about the music itself - instead find out about the acts and then either go or don't go.
Personally, being familiar with the new sound of azax etc I would never have attended

You're not seriously trying to tell us that the ultra choppy, breaksy, even cheesy sound of 220V / Switch / Azax (new stuff) is representative of how trance has evolved?
There are excellent acts of any style around you just have to look.
No offense to these artists - this is just my taste - but they do not represent the trance scene of 2009 at large...just a particular style which obviously the party organizer was aware of (and liked). |
