I take for granted that I should use one left and one right audio input from my synth to my soundcard to use my synth in stereo..But just to be sure..is this the common idea or do some of u use your synths in mono to be able to connect more gears to the soundcard?

yes its really super common. and a mono synth or a monofilter i would assign it to a monotrack using one input. normally with buying hardware you think about the inputs you have on your soundcard. and you can always switch offcourse.

stereo of course, why use mono?

thó problem with inputs can be easily solved with a hardware mixer, that are not very expensive.           http://soundcloud.com/aedem

Oki..so lets say..I got A nord rack that will use 2 or 4 inputs and I'm gonna buy a Virus TI that will use 6 inputs...I'm interested in a soundcard from RME..Could I get this thing working with i.e RME fireface 400 or could a buy just a PCI-card from RME and connect some kind of HardWareMixer? Or do you got another opinion on what is the best solution for my needs..running desktop PC..Thnks!

get an rme fireface 800 and if u need more inputs a used alesis A-I3.. would help out... i normally use stereo but for synths like an sh101 and my micron which i use for its vocoder only most of the time i use mono... but as soon as i get another alesis A-I3
they will both be stereo but for shortcomings it will do the job for now... work with what u got and then upgrade with time but seriously the rme 800 would be the perfect start or a motu they are fine aswell and cheaper... either way good luck.

What about an analog bassline, has anyone done that from hardware to sequencer in mono?           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:

its a very simple but efective lil machine...
and that one looks modified atleast the color... i likes in white and i thought of doing that but mines is sooo mint that i think it be fucked up to do dat...

heres more on the alesi A1I3 - http://www.alesis.com/contentmgr/showdetails.php/id/1415/tt/5

all it does is give you either 4 stereo or 8 mono inputs and outputs more u connect it to the rme fireface adat input and the out put of the rme to the alesis input to have em sync... that way your rme is master clock and the alesis slave...

i have recorded bass mono with the sh101 but also stereo since it has one headphone out and a normal out... but mainly for now i record it mono and sounds good... add some chorus and it gets even fatter make her selfoscillate and sub bass is out of hand nuff said... sh101 got a reall nice fat sub bass... you'll have to waste more to control it thrue ur sequencer but well worth the investment
i use this one to control it if ur curious to see... id have to mod it to control the filter but its too expensive i'll rather manuallly tweak it
