In SX offline processing, you use the "Tail" checkbox for this. The main danger is that the actual original audio "part" itself may end up being shorter than the new tail you process, so the sound might end abruptly. To remedy it, simply extend the part.

P.s. do not forget when you export audio to go in cool edit open the audio file and normalize it so you get the full effect of the wav!

actually that can ruin the whole leveling of those channels in the mix. Considering you're doing this after lotsa hours on the track when you got to the point of no CPU left.
