Hi, anyone knows a method to achieve those crazy sounds that feature static and crazy glitchy bleeps? I'm guessing a lot of editing but where to get source sounds? like circuit bending machines and stuff :/

hey i do A TON of that, most of my new music is based of sampling things.
basically treat everything and anything as a sound source, put a ton of fx on everything and cut up everything.
add me on fb if you wanna discuss stuff

My favorite method for this is to use Zebra and crank up the self oscillating filters while putting the random glide LFO setting on the pitch and tweak around.
Bounce a couple different 4 bar sections with different parameters then chop it up and go hunting!

OR
Start wit a high freq modulated higher octave note. modulate ur Fm synthesis lfo and pwm
Starting wit a square wav generally gets u really close to the cinematic tizzzz sound. |

In flstudio, there is a scratching tool. You can put a sample there, scratch all you like and record it.Great for the glitchy stuff.
You can add additional effects on that insert and get even greater stuff.
From all the things I lost, that sandwitch cost me most :)

Thanks for the info guys... yeah i'm more interested in sound sources than in editing methods, cause i can pretty much imagine how to arrange sounds to be dynamic but i lack this textures and random sound squidly bleeps...
Starting to experiment with some darkware plugins and free experimental vsts that can produce strange stuff.

A lot of the squidly bleeps are hard to produce just by themselves and can be more easily found hidden in between a mess of horrible sounding shit in my experience

yeah it s not the same asi was thiniking, have no idea how the dry synth sounded in these samples it seems so much edited/layered with stuff used for glitching or manually, maybe they used samples and synthesis to create these too... with something like zebra would be a good starting point with all the modulation to make a nice fx sound and then use something that make slutter and all these weird glitchy stuff automatically (bit/rate recuder stutter stretch and co) after it and tweak both at same time.. bounce edit ..tweak again the synth and stutter fx to make others layers.. i think it could lead you close to these sounds more easily than editing everything manually.. maybe they just use a good stutter fx and some fx sample from a other librarie lol |

Modulating the pitch is a good start, and if you can modulate the pitch quickly enough (that is, a high enough rate frequency) you can begin approaching static and/or robot vocal sounds (depending on oscillators). Noise oscillators and FM synthesis can produce a lot, as well as a high resonant filter cutoff modulated quickly enough (especially with pitch modulation). Personally I prefer S&H or S&G LFOs operating off-quantize whose rates are assigned to a knob, and handmade knob automation edited into semi rhythmical movements. If you can get two oscillators doing this in a synth patch, it will add richness and extreme dissonance to a sound by operating on two (or more) wildly differing pitches at once. Of course, there are a lot of ways to make squelches, but those are where I personally start.

Lots of LFO's and Fx modulation and then maybe some manual chopping. there is alot you can do depending on the time and place for the particular sound. The audio demo you posted sounded pretty wicked... but alot of fm, filtering, fx modulations, and i hear alot of distortion and overdrive and bitcrush. try out gross beat for some wacky stuff as well
