Hey all...

So I found out that one of my favorite psy artists is going to be playing live in Tokyo in late March, and although it's not the most financially responsible thing to do, I'm seriously considering a trip over there to visit some friends and catch this event.

Then I started reading some of the threads here, and I'm having some second thoughts. The thread entitled "question about japanese psy rave" and then another one specifically talking about TPE Records (he/she/they are the ones putting on the event I'd like to attend) have me a bit concerned. If I can expect a bunch of people with bad attitudes and fights breaking out, well, shit, I can find that anywhere in the US and don't need to travel halfway across the world to have my evening ruined by a bunch of assholes.

So, I guess my questions for those of you that would know better than I... does TPE put on good events, or are they shady? If I end up going, should I expect people to try to start shit with me, or are the odds good that they'll just ignore me like they do on the subway and let me get my psy groove on in peace?

(In case it factors into your answer to that last question, I am 33, white, 6 ft/235lbs, and I speak enough Japanese to get by, but not enough to have a real conversation with anyone.)

Thanks for any insight--

Hi !
on my personal experience, as a "gaijin", I never got problem here with "badboys" and I pretty much always enjoyed the feeling inside parties... but for sure, if you are at the wrong place at the wrong time, who knows...
Anyway, the best feeling is always at the outdoor parties.
I think on the dancefloor you can still get the "japanese spirit" of enjoying party...hehehe, try to go toilets the less you can !(joke)
Specifically about TPE, I cannot comment...
Good luck...Ganbatte

Hi Ravyn,

I'm actually the one started the "question about japanese psy rave"(i made a new account with my dj name) and, i went to Mother SOS 2008....

All i have to say is that was the best rave ever!(except the bad weather.)

I saw some people who are really rude, but most of the crowd were really nice and polite... like...People who were standing around me, ask me to share their chairs, waters, alcohols etc etc or, I had a trash bag next to my chair, and many people asked me they can trash their cigarettes or not. How polite they are!(I've never seen this in USA!)

So, don't worry big guy(i'm 1 foot shorter than you=P),you'll have fun!=D

Hey all--

Thanks for the input - I'm booking my tickets tonight. Kaitenzushi and psytrance - can't ask for much more than that. =)
