I have been working with FL Studio for some time now, and have been trying to search for stuff like tutorials n the like to help me in the process...What i found however is very general and not related much to core psy-production..
It would really help me if i could get tips on exactly what i need to study and understand in order to make a good psy track...
What are the basic requirements(knowledge of music theory,particular vst/vsti's etc) in order to take up psy-production as a serious process...?

There is no "this is how to make psytrance" tutorial and there is no standard way to make psytrance, that to me is the beauty of music. It's experimental.
There are bits of information and techniques floating around as basic guidelines; but everyone makes their music differently, and the techniques one person use may seem totally alien and useless to you. There's no on right or wrong way to make psytrance; or any genre for that matter, there are techniques and knowledge which is applied all genres of music; learning them will be the first stepping stone. I found sitting down and saying "im going to make a psytrance tune" just didn't work for me (it may for others) but it always felt to forced. I now find that not sticking to a formula and doing what I want much more productive, and it just so happens to be psytrance, but much better than it was before.
There is lots of information about on music production and synthesis; as I would say they are the fundamental basics that need to be learned if you're serious about making music. But ultimately it comes down to learning how to use your equipment, having an idea of where you want to go in your head and practice, practice, practice.
It will take time, and it will probably be frustrating. But once you're first tunes come to fruition; it's all worth while
I can't tell you how to make psytrance. But here are some bits and bobs I have read on general music production and sound manipulation. Some may be a little advanced; or you may sail through them.

Some general tips on making psy.
1) It's all about the hat lines. You can have a poundin' kick, booming bass, most ripping lead line ever, but the hats give it the energy and rhythm. Someone told me once that you should be able to dance to your tune with just drums and bass; and I find that true. Once you get that down and sounding wicked, then you can add lots more power to your music. I find starting off with a 8-16 bar pattern of just kick, bass, hi-hats and snare inspire me much more with the filling sounds, instead of a kick, bass and then adding everything else. Although as I say, that's how I do it and others may find that a very unproductive and alien way of approaching. Others may agree.
2a) Learn your synths/FX. I recommend sticking to just 1 to start out with. Learn it, learn what everything does, learn what the little knob you've never touched does; read the manual, read the manual for the manual. Reverse engineer presets; fuck around, make your own sounds, save your own sounds (they may be shit now, but there may be a context later in which it's perfect). Using presets is fine; but please for originality, fuck with them. There's nothing more boring than using the sounds that have been used over and over again.
2b)Most of the work should be done in your synth. If you haven't got the original sound right, adding effects onto it usually wont make it any better; sometimes it might, but 8/10 times I have found it just ends up in a mush of frequencies.
3) Automation is your friend, get creative with it. There's nothing cooler (in my opinion) than a crash hitting loud with a delay on it, cranking up the feedback and then adding some modulation/gating/arp. What was a crash sound has now morphed into a potential lead line.
4) Get hold of a couple of good delays, a couple of good reverbs, a couple of compressors and a few decent EQ. Lots of people starting out seem to get LOADS of different plugins which sound cool, but no time to learn the potential of them all. One or two which you know well will prove a lot more effective than 20 that you have no idea how to use. You can always branch out once you know them.
5) Play around with your kick and bass sounds. Things do not need to be over complicated. Most basses are a square or saw wave with a filter on it. There's no need to load it with a ton of effects to get the desired sound. Most synths can make the sound you want, play with the envelops and filters. Compression and EQ are pretty much all I ever use on my bass; occasionally a bass enhancer if needed.
Kicks can be synthesized, personally I use samples. If it doesn't sound right use another sample, or make another patch.

6) You don't have to fill up every second of free space, find a balance of not too over crowded but not too minimal. There is a time and place for both, but lots of people at the start try and pack as much in as they can. This leads to a lot of phasing and masking issues which makes the music sound dull.
7)Don't be disheartened if things don't come out sounding exactly how you want. It takes time and patience. Just work at your own pace, read as much as you can, talk to as many different people as you can, work with as many people as you can and slowly you will pick bits up and improve.
8) Tactical panning/reverb/eq/volume autiomation work wonders. Some good things to remember are:
Sounds further away have less hi-end, lower amplitude and longer reverb. Sounds closer too you would have more hi-end, less reverb and a higher amplitude. Taking this into account, along with the panning, with a little bit of practice you can creatively place your sounds.
9) Learn to create space in your mix.
Got 2 sounds in the same frequency range? Pan them to opposing sides so they don't clash. I like to high pass EQ everything bar the kick and bass at about 250-300Hz, that leaves lots of room in the low end for the kick and bass to dominate. The same with the high ends. I low pass lots of things at about 7-10Khz. This gives the hats space to breath and cuts out the un-needed "air" of other sounds. Leaving 300Hz-7Khz for all your FX, pads and leads to breath. That's where the panning and reverb comes in.
10) Have fun and enjoy. Do not try comparing your music to others.
It's good to reference; listen to what others have done, steal their ideas that appeal to you; even write a tune along side theirs, nick their structure, tear the thing apart. This is for practice though. Their music is theirs. Doing this will help you think of sounds and structure ideas, but leave it there. It's theirs and why would you want to sound just like someone else? Make your music yours. Put your mark on it, and maybe one day someone will be saying "I want to make a lead line just like that" while rocking out to your tune.

I would like to add, that getting on different sites, and reading information from people outside of the psy genre can add a lot. Get as much feedback on your tunes as you can. Not just from psytrancers and producers.
A broad spectrum of feedback is great. Producers can tell you "that bit there needs to be notched at 500Hz and that could do with a bit of reverb".
Someone who likes psy but no idea on production can say "that bit there sounds fuckin' amazing, really pumpin' but not sure that break afterwards works that well, kinda ruins the flow". These are the people you hope will be dancing too your tunes after all.
And someone who has no idea about psy or production can hear it with totally fresh ears and just let you know if they think it's good as a piece of music.

hey dude. I'm going to post some stuff soon about straight up psy production on my site - www.musicproductionnatural.com - they're all shameless right? 
I did this bassline one the other day but the audio was weirdly out of sync  but I will push on and make another one, and some others. I really want to put together something that people can just use as a straight up guide from when they start so they can get better/proficient at this stuff as quickly as possible. I know it took me a lot of time and work to figure out some of the simplest stuff in regards to production - but 'value the journey,' you know?
Chemogen seems like he has an article that is spot on to what you need to read really nice one
