you should refine your knowledge a bit then.. beautiful country indeed with rich culture, splendid food and with an quite active psy scene actually for more than a decade now..

I left everything behind 1 year ago.
Left the good job, the girlfriend, the big city life, the friends, the family etc.
Moved away from Montreal to work as a sailor on a boat.
Right now, I'm listening to psytrance, doing psytrance, and I am in the middle of the ocean.
If I look out the window, I see snow storms, huge waves and the dark waters of the North Atlantic.
Talk about a new source of inspiration.
Be careful before doing such a move.
It sounds cool and romantic, but it implies many things. Many, many things...
You will gain and learn a lot, but also loose a lot.
As for myself, I am pretty happy with my choice.
I would do it again.
Sometimes, I miss my old life, but then I think about how much it sucked, working in the office 8 to 5 everyday, shitty boss, always the same routine, the lack of change.
Good luck, and as someone else said in this topic, you only live once.
Try it, maybe for a few years, and if you don't like it, go back to the city.
I plan myself to go back to Montreal in 2 or 3 years. |

I decided to move to Thailand after a disasterous stay in China and needed somewhere a little more real.
I first lived in Thailand in 2006 for 3.5 months which gave me the insight i needed to understand the Thai people (all be it a little), the way of life here for westerners, the food etc.
I then went back to the UK until August last year when i returned for a months holiday to get some details on costs for living here for a year.
I believe at the very least you should be able to be self sustained for at least this long.
We then returned this year and paid 12 months rent, Cable, Internet all up front and began enjoying this wondeful country.
I now work in a studio for a friend where i am their "in-house" engineer when ever needed.
I also find it easier to do my own work (music production video courses) here due to being less stressed and having the freedom to make my own choices regarding work hours etc when and where i choose.
All in all the best thing i have ever done, i feel stronger (mentally and physically) due to the great food, the eagerness and enjoyment i get out of life now is much more than ever before due to the weather mainly and the beauty of the land/SEA here, as i said before, best thing i ever did.
HOWEVER be under no illusion, as said above it sounds fantastic and easy but its not, its a HUGE change and takes some will power to leave everything in your life and start a new one.
My advice, if you realy want to leave X to goto Y then goto Y for a short period of time, live in the culture there and figure out if its what you really want to do.
Nothign worse than having this Grandiose idea of moving to another country then finding out its not what you hoped for.
Mark

That sounds so nice.I'd like to change with you someday hehe.
..you said you are an engineer for a friend..Did you found connection to this kinda work before your came there or isn't it too problematic to find the right connections for work for engineers?
Also..hmm sorry for being too curious, maybe its too personal, what Im curious is also do you earn your money there apart of your courses.
I heard stories of a guy that once worked there, had a beautyful life for a half year ina studio but had to financed himself. So he had a studio to work, beaches ,good weather but he didnt earn any money.
It sounds soo positive there.. Enjoy.

Making Video Tutorials is my primary income.
I make a little in the studio and i also teach.
I made the contacts when i got here, but i am also a qualified sound engineer so had/knew what they needed.
