ok peoplei have decided 2 try and make some music (just for fun i dont think ill go pro). i got 2 software on disc's
1.fruity loops 3
2.reason
now i know that fruity loops is "just a toy" (or so i was told) but my question is if these programs are any good? and if i can make something serious with them.

fruity loops is NOT a toy, especially the new versions. you can whip up some pretty nasty tunes with it. still, there's no replacement for cubase. as for reason, well, it's got great sounds but the gui and intuitiveness sucks ass. big time. |

Fruity Loops and Cubase had built with same engine , eventhouth Cubase/Logic are more Pro ( as you call it there)
but I am from group of ppl who thinks that : If you can do good music it doesn't matter which appy you used to make it !!!!!!
Cubase/Logic are more accurate , with better sound and more more.... but Fruity EASiest than them .
1.never call any program lame !!!! coz only ppl can be lame and not the software nor FRUITY
2.never think that if you use "Pro Appz" that you are pro musician

as i said "i was told" the fruity loops is a not professional software i have no idea ( i havent installed it yet)
and i said i dont want a software whom will give me a bad sound and got no option's, like i said i want to learn how 2 make music for fun that means learning. and why not using the best if i can??? |

jonathan, in music like in food/sex: you do what you like as long as u don't make damage to others.
so care what people say is ok or not ? :)
install both, try, see what you like more,
in the worst case you can always uninstall them :)

Jonathan i sorry for attackin you but you said that "Fruity is toy" - and i'm fruity lover so i will attack every person who say it
but nevermind
about your question : You can make pro techno , pro trance and other kind of music ( rap , jazz , drumbass .... ) in both softwares ....
about quality of sound , i don't know anything about reason but in fruity 3.3 - 3.4 there is same engine that in cubase ( ASIO ) , the worse part in fruity is the renderin , when you finnish the track you need to check your EQ's in every channel and find your " formula " for the sound ( write your finnished track to CD and check it on 5+ Stereo Systems ( old and new ones) that's the way to create better sound , if your tracks are same on different stereo systems so you have right sound)
but the better way to work is : work on cubase and fruity at the same time ....
