						| Why is the petition addressed to the Chinese government and not the Indian government? India does a lot of trade with Burma, and I havent heard a peep out of Indias gov. Why arent they being criticized? IMO as a democracy it's even more offensive for them not to say anything. |

						| because it`s the chinese blocking the un- resolution against burma. not that it would change too much, but it seems to be important for them.

 And what is UN doing?

UN Envoy: Could you please stop violent attacks against protesters?
 Junta: No.
UN Envoy: But its extremely disturbing.
 Junta: So.
UN Envoy: Dont you understand that its not right?
 Junta: No.
UN Envoy: But we condemn these actions against civilians.
 Junta: So.
UN Envoy: Ok. "retires politely back to the ivory tower in New York to make the world better"

						| well i'm not proud for having contributed to the uglyness of this thread at all.
but it's a goddamn petition, it's no matter of discussion. all the critics, or opinions, in here may be legitimate, but it's not about that. it's about doing something which might do a change. if you don't want to, no problem, but i don't like seeing fun made out of it. an opinion, too.

						| how bout a petition for Kurds...Kashmiris, Chechnya, Palestinians....i mean just because its Buddhist monks doesnt mean that such petitions should be restrictive...its all about independent identity which unfortunately is at the core of POLITICS..but i think any petition relating to that would be considered political and thread lock...i dont understand why the special status to Buddhist monks...how are they special? can someone enlighten me please When death comes to your doorstep, make sure you are alive |

i don't think so. threads get locked because of the fights that start in there, political or religious fights. that's why i said this ain't a "discussion" topic, because discussing it would probably lead to a fight. any other petition would be allowed in here too if it doesn't turn out a fighting thread.

						| nah...i think a petition is as political as it gets...but i am not saying that its a good or bad thing i am just stressing on the point No Politics...but i think if this thread has stayed open this i think attitudes towards all the old NO NOs are changing...i am just looking for clarification on the No Politics issue...because if that NO disappears then i think there will be a floodgate open for some interesting stuff...i mean with all due respects do you think a petition regarding some Palestinian cause be it whatever will go without a discussion...besides how can you expect people to sign a petition without actually discussing the issue you are petitioning for? the reason why everyone posts funny stuff on this serious issue is because in lack of discussion one of the tools available is mockery...completely taking away the seriousness of the issue...i would definitely sign the petition no doubt but only after a healthy discussion or debate ...but without it it seems quite pointless When death comes to your doorstep, make sure you are alive |

						| alright, gotcha imho, debating is not needed, i'm seeking information on such issues elsewhere. sure it is as political as it can get, but i don't think it should be a basis for discussion...those that want to sign, those that don't, don't.
however, let's leave it alone, will we. maybe you'll get the clarification if you seek it in the isratrance.com section
