So lately I've really been digging on Jangaramongara Nr59, and there's this one sound that I'm having trouble wrapping my head around. I don't have a very direct link, but if you go to Ektoplasm, there's a download link for the whole album it's on (Flying Sauce, it's number three on the album).

Anyway, there's this low deep squelchy sound, which starts about 1:42 into the track, but kind of lowers and rises in volume, and is really most audible at around 2:33 and on. There's obviously some panning going on, and a filter rising and falling.

So, what do you guys think? FM synthesis? I have trouble getting my deep squelchy stuff like that so... scratchy? farty? Something to do with the LFO?

Thoughts?
