How could I make these on a synth? Can pro-53 produce these noises well?

Are these best for leads or bass sounds?

Thanks.

try upping the resonance and set an envelope to modulate the filter. the original prophet was definitely good for squelch. You should be ok with pro-53. Resonant patches are best for lead sounds or for the high layer of a bassline. High resonance settings take the bottom end out of a bassline , but I do use it for techno basslines with the cut-off set low and no modulation on the filter, or a hint of envelope modulation with 0 sustain and attack and really fast decay setting (you need a nice snappy envelope generator and good sounding filter. for that to sound good though).

Its the result of 2 main components.... portamento or pitch modulation and filter modulation

An envellope on the pitch works welll then add a bandpass filter modulated by lfo synched midi, a doted quantazing works well. Try different setting.
Depending on the sound you usually need to hipass it you can either put a second filter in series on the synth or just eq it with a hipass filter after the synth.

For this any synth with good sounding filter and good modulation will do... you can also add a filter plugin like filterfreak after the synth if you're not convinced about the filter on your synth. don't forget to open fully the filter on the synth in this case

Happy tweaking

+1

I like to start with a mix of saw and tri oscs detuned -40 to -50 semitones (if this isn't possible in a certain synth, just play really low notes into it) into a low pass filter (high resonance) modulated by an lfo (slow-medium rate, sine or tri wave).

The LFO and filter are the most important things in making it squelch, so get creative with their settings.           You believe in the users?
Yeah, sure. If I don't have a user, then who wrote me?

With all due respect to the creators of this soundbank. Please do not buy vanguard because you want to use this soundbank or create squelch sounds. these can be done with a lot of synths and imho with a much better result. this bank is not professional.

You don't need to have a soundbank for that... simple saw tooth with modulated pitch and lfoed filter..

Only time and practice will give good results.

And Vanguard is not the most intuitive gui synth either, I would rather spend money on Albino, as a matter of fact there is a free sounbank from Cosmosis for it Gives you much more possibilities to squelch and what else           Monitoring devices, know where you go

that's ok, it was meant to be very simple and free! it is intended as a fun thing which might be useful for learning about squelches

agreed that you don't need to buy Vanguard... there are many free synths, cheaper synths, and better synths which can do this sound.
