From the long meandering line outside Hi Fi Bar in Melbourne Australia last Saturday night you can only assume the meteoric growth of Australian phat crunchy bass project Spoonbill is showing no signs of slowing.
Launching his new EP Airborne, the venue was at capacity ridiculously early yet the sardine’esq crowd couldn’t have given a damn gyrating to the bounce and wobble and getting to know each other intimately.
Not really surprising considering this sheer funk, musicality and maturity of his latest release.
Dan Watt, Musical Editor of 100% Magazine has this to say.
"Spoonbill is a rare species in the dance music world because not only does he capture the shearing 'abstract' through squelching beats and surreal sounds BUT he also offers the bewildered listener slippery anchors in the form of guitar strums and vocal twists.
