Hey guys, I have another stupid question. Will the RME Babyface work with the SPL Phonitor? I don't know anything about this stuff, but I seriously need to upgrade my monitoring situation. Right now all I have is an RME Babyface and a pair of Beyerdynamics 770 DT Pros. I want to get an SPL Phonitor, a pair of Sennheiser HD800's, and a pair of Dynaudio DBM50's. Decent setup or no?           There is no good, there is no evil, there is only flesh

yeah really decent but why you don t buy more expensive monitors first insteed? thought these might be great i don t know.

you could also keep the dt770 and babyface and buy monitors in the 2000 euro range

but i have really no clue what would give the best result...probably down to your room , if the room suck might be better choice to invest in cans if it don t bother you to produce on cans.. or treating the room acousticaly..

The room I'm in (or will be in, in a couple of months) sucks balls (a barracks room). I figured the DBM50's would be more appropriate since they're meant for desktop monitoring. And then I could use the Phonitor+HD800's for referencing           There is no good, there is no evil, there is only flesh

yeah might be good option, what i m not sure if their is really a step up from the akg 701 hd 600 ect league to the hd800.
there is also the audeze ldc2 that is supposed to be great..it s very flat from deepest low to 1K or more but it s not surigical like hd800, its more warm musical sound with great lows.

you might save some bucks with something like a lavry black da10/11 that have headphone amp and top da (you can find some da10 around 600 second hand, i guess the headphone amp is good but maybe not topnotch )

Well, I've saved up quite a bit of money here in the Middle East, so I figured I would try to buy something top notch while keeping my room into consideration. However, if you can suggest something better, I'm all ears. Checked out the audeze ldc2, they look nice, but I would think I would need something more surgical, right?           There is no good, there is no evil, there is only flesh

yeah maybe, hd800 low end is not so great i have heard.. maybe in the us there is place you can try both.

check on the net but lcd2 was more popular than hd800 when i was looking to buy one..

for help with mastering i would have went hd800, but for producing tune not sure.. lcd2 pro are how it s flat in the area there is lot of room issu..also cause it supposed to have great low. fast.. hd800 is very detailed ,supposed to be like microscope on your audio..

I live around a bunch of small towns in Texas. I might have to make a drive somewhere lol. I just need something accurate. That's my main consideration. Accuracy. I want to know that what I produce will translate well to most everything.           There is no good, there is no evil, there is only flesh

do you get ok low from the dt770? then hd 800 would complement better and i think for what you are after hd800 might be more suited than lcd2 but yeah for that money better you try both if it s possible..

The only thing I don't like about the DT770's is that they seem to put out way too much low end than there actually is and the mids are scooped. Plus it doesn't accurately portary highs. Maybe it's because I'm not using them with a headphone amp, all I have is a RME Babyface.           There is no good, there is no evil, there is only flesh

What do you recommend, man? If I said, alright PoM, I'm going to put this in your hands. I want something high quality, generally accurate, headphones, amp, and dac. Modest price range though. What would you deliver?           There is no good, there is no evil, there is only flesh

the grace seems serious stuff..might worth looking more about in on the net

damn just saw the price of the m903.. it s not cheap

lynx hilo convertion is supposed to be top notch, if the headphone amp is as good ...that would be better bang for the buck as you get ad convertion too.. worth checking more about it too..

you could connect a da 10 via spdif to your babyface and start like this..then might upgrade the headphone amp if you re not satisifed, could be a solution.

personaly me i would just go for a metric halo lio 8 (mac only) and be done with it but we have probably different needs.. but it have top notch of everyhting .at christmas metric halo do 15% or 20 % sale on their hardware..so better wait considering the price lol
