I think I know what you're talking about, but you should post an example track.           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

Well, I'm not a goa expert... but I think it's
TB303 acidic synths + rising fast arpeggios + filter modulation!

Watch out for the scale you use.

That arp video is sucky.

Im sure he talks about LFOs !

Research on LFO dude:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low-frequency_oscillation

Link them to all kind of stuff like pitch, filter, amp, etc. And automate speed / rate.

For that spirally sound.

maybe:
arpeggios + filter modulation = spiral fx
pitch shifting + stereo delay = twist fx

but an example would be useful, youtube is your friend!

What we wrote before was right. Choose a scale, 3/4 chords that sounds in harmony, write/play an arpeggio with a saw wave (any synth can do that), start with the filter cutoff almost closed (LP to the mininum) and gradually open it, try to play with resonance and add a delay.           http://soundcloud.com/alphadelphi

Yes, that part is great!
That's not one synth, there are many!
Effective harmony!! Typpical Astral style.
Youtube quality is not good enough to capture the deepness of this track.
Progressive filter oppening on somelayers! weeeeeee SPACEEEEEE!

If you have problems with harmony, melody construction, chords or arranjments, try to load some Eurodance and Trance MIDIs into your sequencer.
And see how all elements are layered.

interesting..

left and right = panning
up and down = pitch
depth = volume

and there we have it, a 3 dimensional space.

now, lets say if you want to have a sound that moves in a spiral like direction, all you gotta do is pan that sound from left to right and decreasing the volume (as volume decreases you might wanna add reverb to that).

I think I know what you mean. It is that twisting swirling effect Mr. FLANGER
No doubt! There are mutiple synths playing... I can not here it pritty well wich sounds are putted trough the FLANGER. Certanly not the bass line and drums. The effect is not that wet too. Just a little bit they used to bring some spice to the meat. Hope you read this
