They are one of my favorite producers but Ive never met anybody else who has heard of them, nor have I heard anything that can compare to their music.
I have both alblums, Spies- Notinism and Holeg and the Spies, they are excellent. I also like Faithealers alot and the Catcher CD off Aurinko records (getting a bit old now). Anyway I am wondering if anyone has ever seen a live act of Spies, and in general trying to start some discussion about music in this vein.
Anyone else heard these albums?

Great music indeed... Good old aurinko, you will be missed...
If you like the old dark ambient/tribal-tek style which is characteristic of his albums, keep a look out for the collaboration of "spies on magnet influence" (spies vs von magnet), sounds very promising...
He's also a member of this forum so drop him a line

Yes that single is OK but the alblum it came off of has trax that I like much better (eg Shaolin Wooden Men vs Spies- The intruder). On that note anyone know what Shaolin Wooden Men have been up to?

Thanks I never heard of Karmic Energies before. I also Like Eon Project, Four Carry Nuts, and Faithealers, other projects that Kris Kylvyn was/is involved in. I should have titled this thread "Kris Kylvyn" instead of "spies"

Kris Kylven is a very talented producer indeed... From what I heard after the faithealers album was dropped by aurinko and exogenic (great album but difficult to define therefore difficult to sign ) he quit the trance world and focused more on gothic/industrial projects.
Last stuff I heard of him he did some remixes for siouxie & the banshees, marilyn manson, and juno reactor (hotaka rmx). He also produces and remixes local finnish bands like the 69 eyes and such. He also tours with holeg spies playing electric drums.
FYI, k.kylven is NOT involved in 4CN (tim schuldt + detlef funder). |

I have no doubt about that. I havent heard the whole album. I just bought this single at psyshop for 2 reasons. 1. It was in the on sale. 2. I saw Tim Schuldt's name.

Wow. That makes me want to break down and cry. A Faithealers album exists somewhere, but psy lables are to narrowminded to publish it?! What an abominable thought, Faithealers trax, gathering dust along with the work coutless other unrecognized genius' who the world has passed over over the years!
What is wrong with this world where artists like that are compelled to cast their pearls before pigs who know not its value?

New stuff of 'The Star Shrink Shooters' (Holeg Spies and Sister B) :
Mechanical Dragon Record - VA 'Five Tons of Flax' (2007) Track no' 9 .
http://www.sonic-dragon.com/?load=/mechd/five_tons_flax_release.htm
Mechanical Dragon Record - The Star Shrink Shooters - Tanz Demokratur (2007) .
The Star Shrink Shooters is the new techno-trance project of well known DJ and producer HOLEG aka SPIES with SISTER B.
For more than 10 years, Holeg of Spies has been performing on the international electronic scene. Based in France, he is well known for his unclassifiable, as destabilizing as possible hybrid style. First as a Dj and then, as a composer, Holeg has basically worked in Europe with releases on Atomic, Aurinko, Transient, Etnicanet, Wirikuta and Citizen (Vitalic), Polygram to name a few. Then, since 1996, he has been expanding his work to Japan thanks to Juno Reactor. More recently, Holeg has concentrated his work for films notably for The Hitcher produced by Michael Bay (the Island, Armageddon, Pearl Harbor), for Japanese director Miike Takashi and fashion designers such as Issey Miyake and Yohji Yamamoto...
With "Tanz-Demokratur" Holeg and Sister B. break even more boundaries merging techno-trance with many more musical influences. This album features amazing collaborations with well known producers such as Tim Schuldt (Aurinko), Kris Kylven (Transient, Atomic Reactor, Dragonfly, Flying Rhino) and much more.
More than an album, Tanz-Demokratur is also a complete live-performance merging music and videos

Nontism was freaking awesome, and his ambient stuff is quite dreamy
i've heard the live set with visuals is awesome, well worth bringing him over. I think the he's bigger in the goth scene than the trance scene. trancers turn their nose up at the female samples/vocals in the new album (but they say nothing of the male vocals hehehe) whilst the goths seem to love that shit. Holeg is the master of genre crossing tho
The next mech dragon comp should have another Star Shrink Shooters track too.
