I have a rythm going at 120bpm and i wish to increase this to a much higher rate, such as 142bpm etc. Im wondering what the processes are to speed up this audio clip i have in cubase to match my song?

Use Acid Pro or wait for SX 3 which is supposed to do it like Acid Pro does.
In my experience timestretching never worked good. |

orbit I think the best app for streching is WaveLab,you just write the "numbers" : 120 bpm===> 142 bpm

play it in another key... like, if it's in C play it C#, D, D# 'til you get it to fit...
otherwise use any audio editor or sampler to time stretch your sample
time stretching is done using granular synthesis and sometimes gives satisfying results other times it wont... |

i find that regular time stretching beyond a 1/16, lets say, heavily distorts the sound.
i go with Colin's words.
"On the other hand, you have different fingers."

Most of the times I only use the time-strech. If your loop is well cutted, just drop the sample to the arrangement. Then put the song on 145 bpm. Now u will realise the loop is bigger than it was supposed to be right??? Now just choose the "time strech tool", and adjust the loop(applying the time strech) to exactly compass it should be.
But it only works if your loop is pretty well cutted!
