Just wondering if any of you know any good speech creators (like Microsoft Sam but better)

Creative SOundBlaster had a program back in the dos days called DrSabastio or something like that. His voice is now a classic!

Creative also had Creative Talk back in the day. Good luck finding these, and running them in a non dos based OS           G+ - Army Collective - Kontakt Recordings

fruityloops has a built-in speech synth. it sounds like microsoft sam but theres other presets and you can change the key and pitch etc.

does it have to be vst?

google yielded this : http://www.research.att.com/projects/tts/demo.html

I used the speech synth in Fruity once with some nice robotic results. Imported the file to cubase and messed it up. Turned out like this

Don`t know if this is what you are after though

Vocaloid is a nice Voice Synth Machine. Not so easy to use, but great vst.           LOADING...

I once played around with this one:

Cantor - Virsyn

http://www.virsyn.de/en/E_Products/E_CANTOR/e_cantor.html

it was quite hard to program, but the results are top notch.

I think the best and i truthfully mean it, the best, vocal based-synth software ever made is "VocalWriter" by KAE Labs. Unfortunately, it has been written for Mac only

http://www.kaelabs.com
Check out the MP3 demoes.
Other than that, you can hear some cool Shpongle tracks enriched with this amazing piece of software.

Vocaloid? pfft sounds like a lame attempt to imitate a true vocals in my opinion.

Vokator? well it is a great plugin but it does not produce words...just an effect.

Cantor? I tried to mess with it quite a lot and also read manuals...Pfft..This one is awfully uncomfortable... and pain in the ass to work with. I bet it is so with Vocaloid as well. Other than that, it`s synthesis seem to sound nice but too synthetic to my ears.

Alternative way to have a cool robotic synth-like is simply to use a vocoder over a regular computer generated speech.

A cool Vocoder effect i'd highly recommend is the VST plugin called 'Vokko' by KlangLabs.
http://klanglabs.siliconemusic.com/products/vokko/vokko.htm

Be sure to check out the demos on that site.
Its a great plugin to add to the list (And hey! it was made in SynthEdit).

I have not found myself anything for PC platform that comes close to the VocalWriter for Mac. Maybe someday...

Cheers
Gary
