Hi guys. Ok, im kinda gettin a lil dodgy now, because after numerous attempts im just not able to automate anything in Spectrasonics atmosphere. Sometimes it so happens in certain vsts where in sometimes when u automate it at the very moment it doesnt work... but if u stop and play again it does. But ive tried all of this.. it still doesnt work??
Could anybody give me some insight?? Am i missing something? Or is it tht atmosphere is a vst tht i cannot automate? Help please!

thanks

u have to make automations from Atmosphere in the Keyeditor ... Instead of Velocity u chage for exampe to "brightness" wich is the cutoff ... and draw the automation by hand ...

Don't know why SPectrasonics didn't Programm any mapping (yeT) ... but like this it works ...           www.myspace.com/freakulizer

Atmosphere doesn't directly respond to VST automation, although the controls do respond to MIDI controller messages, which you can automate using VST automation on the instrument's MIDI track. You just need to know which controller number moves which control.

So you CAN use proper automation to control it.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

Details of how to do what I said above:

ATMOSPHERE MIDI CONTROLLER# MAPPING

005 Glide Time
007 Master Volume
071 Master Filter Resonance
072 Amp Env Release
073 Amp Env Attack
074 Master Filter Cutoff
075 Amp Env Decay
076 Amp Env Sustain
077 Filter Cutoff
078 Filter Resonance
079 Filter Envelope
080 Filter Key Tracking
081 Layer A Level
082 Layer B Level
083 Layer A Pan
084 Layer B Pan
085 Layer A Pitch Coarse
086 Layer B Pitch Coarse
087 Layer A Pitch Fine
088 Layer B Pitch Fine
089 Mod Pitch Amount
090 Mod Filter Amount
091 Mod Amp Amount
092 Mod Pan Amount
093 Pitch Env Depth
094 Pitch Env Time
095 LFO Depth
096 LFO Rate
097 Filter Env Attack
098 Filter Env Decay
099 Filter Env Sustain
100 Filter Env Release
101 Filter Env V-time
102 Filter Env V-sens
103 Amp Envelope V-time
104 Amp Envelope V-sense
105 Sample Start Offset
106 Layer A On/Off
107 Layer B On/Off
108 Layer Select
109 Link On/Off
110 Solo On/Off

If you want to use a MIDI control surface to write automation
In SX, go into Preferences -> MIDI and make sure 'MIDI Controller Input to Automation Tracks' is ticked. MIDI controller information will now be recorded as VST automation for that CC# on the MIDI track controlling the instrument, ie. you have to have that MIDI track selected and write-enabled for automation when recording your controller movements. Now assign the appropriate controller number to whichever control on your surface you want to use to automate a particular control, and off you go!

If you want to draw the automation by hand
Open up the automation lane for the MIDI track controlling the synth, and click the name of the parameter displayed in the lane to bring up the menu showing the other available parameters. Select 'More', then select the MIDI controller number you need from the 'All CC' folder at the bottom of the menu that appears. When you then go back to the arrange window the automation lane will have changed to the MIDI controller you selected, and you can write your automation using the standard tools.

+1. I am, for 8 years being the child of notes-drawing, mouse-automating, non-keyboard playing, always forgot about Midi controllers automation
Now, thanks everybody form clearing this up.
