I posted this tune a while ago and had some pretty constructive feedback

This version has been remixed and revamped and i would be interested to hear your opinions!

Thanks!

Hey,

I like it - very well mixed and clear. Very "minimal" though, for psytrance. Maybe you should look at putting more layers of sound on it.

Very bouncy - a bit like House - but hell, I like it dude. Keep it coming!

Cheers

Like the lead you have around 40 seconds. How is that made? Also love the bass after 1min mark. Are you from German?

Andre_H: Thanks - yeah it is pretty minimal, i still might try some more sounds in there as there is still plenty of space i think!

alajarvela: not exactly sure which lead you mean? The chord stab with the delay was made on vanguard, but that comes in before 00:40.
And no im not from Germany, im English!

Thanks for the feedback!           http://soundcloud.com/mattlane

This track is nice.

I am sure it doesn't need more elements. IMO, instead of adding new layers would be better to develop the track's elements horizontally. What I mean is creating a constant progression - making longer percussion loops with different changes every 16 bits, adding variations to melodies and fx phrases, changing bass and leads notes more often, adding more different breaks to drums. Despite the fact this is electronic music with electronic drums, they still need to play together. Try creating breaks with not only the kick, but similar how live drummer would play - with snare / clap and hats. And if there is a drum break - other elements should play along with it, as these aren't separate elements, but the whole thing.

Please pay some attention to you hats. They are not fat. That hat sample which plays like 3 times in a row is a bit too bright on my Adams, while another sample, which is more like 909 hat, is week and a bit lost in the mix.

The bass could be a bit bigger with more subs too.

However to be honest this might be just a matter of taste. This track is pretty good as is.

Thanks for the feedback markus, yeah the difference between the hats is pretty obvious now you mention it!

Definitely agree about bass too - i noticed after mixing it with some other tunes that it could do with some extra sub!

I will try and vary it up a bit i think - im not sure if ive just heard it too many times but some sections seem to drag on a bit, and like you said maybe some new breaks would make it more interesting!           http://soundcloud.com/mattlane

very good track! like it a lot, those sweepy chords are right on, nice groove. clear production.
+1 on it does not need more elements
+1 on would benefit of some more low end beef to have it earthshaking along with the sweet groove it has

anyway: very well done           http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/stereofeld-frequenzwechsel

Nomad Moon: it's the Air Frequency Shifter in Pro Tools 8 on the vocal samples - so yes pitch modulation! Can get some pretty mad vocals effects with that plugin.           http://soundcloud.com/mattlane
