From Yugoslavia, AKI and ELI present a coherent and interesting debut release with a 3-track ensemble. What distinguishes their music are the eerie darkness and hypno-percussive spherics that make these 3 tracks well-produced, grinding stompers of the night.
.. 1 .. BLACK.MAGIC ..
Razorsharp hi-hats and cymbals pierce the hypnotic darkness embedded in this track. Filtered percussions unwind above a heavy continuum of bass, with eerie siren melodics that enhance the macabre nocturnal atmosphere. Black Magic then explodes with a spell of potent, distorted synth blasts and vast cybersonic tapestries of sound.
.. 2 .. ROCKS ..
A more pronounced kick drives through with a bouncy line of hi-hats nicely interwoven. Crystallised vocal samples and aggressive atmospherics accompany this track through breaks, build-ups and explosions in dark, progressive minimalistix.
.. 3 .. SUPER DEVIL JUICE ..
Spiked stretches of audio-mechanic inertia grind their way in to finish off this vinyl release. Corrupted basslines that appear only on a powerful sound system rhythmically lift darkened textures of sound. Punchy, teknoid noise arrays make this a catchy, twisted battlefield track.
