Christmas is always the time of year for me when I get nostalgic and melancholic, I think about all the good times I have had, how the years pass by and about that innocent feeling of wonder I had as a child about almost anything. Now I`m just a jaded asshole...
But there was also another time of innocent wonder in my life, when I was 13,14,15 years old and first discovered trance in all its variations in the early to mid-nineties. I was your prototypical raver with blue hair, orange pants and Buffalo Shoes, and I felt like I just discovered something totally new and awesome that had never been there before. Looking back that was very naïve, of course, and the music that changed my world in that era reflected that wide-eyed state of mind. The melodies were so simple back then, three or four notes, almost like Kindergarten songs, the production was very crude by today`s standards, yet these tracks never sounded cheesy too me (and still don`t)because they came from the heart and were written by like-minded people who were also part of the big “Ravers Nation”.
Anyways, for Christmas I compiled a Top Ten featuring my favorite tracks from that era, some Frankfurt Trance, some Hard Trance, and some early Goa Trance. To me it was all the same, I didn`t even know the difference. The following list is in no particular disorder and I`m sure I forgot some. I hope you share and enjoy some of these memories with me
Merry Christmas!
1.) Cosmic Bay – Liebe
2.) Scooter - Rhapsody in E (this is from before Hyper, Hyper, when Scooter made cool melodic hardtrance)

All gems in here. Nice memories. I was way too young at that time (I was born in 1986) to know what it all was about and to go to raves, but still I was totally blown away by that music. And still am, somewhat.
