awesome ! need to test it out. ATM I quite fast and satisfied with all those shortcuts. Its amazing the speed of process in renoise. But Im just at the beginning. After 2 decades of hibernation - when it comes to trackers.
Although this offerst fuckin ways lots of more than in the past. Love it!

siggggh...
I registered @ 1.5.1, so my license expired at 2.5.1
RIGHT AFTER THAT, all these spiffy new features show up.
Taktik did it on purpose.
OMG THE SPEED OF IT YES! Trying to write in a piano roll is like cutting off 9 arms and soaking the last in DDT for a month before writing. Somehow though Ive gotten used to writing (basslines ) in Live for the live set, but still, I try to use sequencer plugs at every chance.
Ive found that Reaper does nicely at taking care of sidechaining, mono conversion, x64 native, and running 64 bit plugs, Ive been using it for mixdowns for a while and it really streamlined my workflow. I started using it just because it set the project length automatically to the length of the audio Then I rendered 64 bit FP on a p4 at >5x realtime. Plus its 5mb and the lite reg is 50 euro, so its like Renoise's little MIDI brother .

I think I gonna bounce my track and take the stems to cubase for mixing eq'n etc and later protools for comp sidechain and a mastering.Or at home a premastering better said.
I haven't get so far to check sidechaining in renoise with its native possibilites , gonna look for it for sure since sidechaining is to me essential.
I have a quite noobish question I'm recording now at home rhymes in logic and want to create more tracks in renoise for the beat I created for my rhymes but dont know how to add a new track.. HOw to do it? (command+n doesnot work and the usualy suspects also not , and cannot see anything for this simple ting) ..Probably I find it soon somewhere but maybe someone is faster and can answer here.
So far I didnt make psytrance on renoise but looking forward to it aswell.

I dont usually bother sidechaining with Renoise, its possible I guess but sorta complicated, using the Signal Follower device I guess (theres lots of discussion on the Renoise board about various sidechain techniques). I render stems and mix them with x64-native Reaper. Its native plugins are 64 bit and sidechaining is pretty intuitive, plus it converts to mono nondestructively, has a very fair price tag, and a user/developer community very similar to Renoise. And teh demo is the exact same as the licensed version and <6mb download. Ive found anything Renoise lacks can be done intuitively and efficiently with Reaper. Using the 2 this way makes my workflow so much faster, sound so much cleaner, than when I was using Renoise alone.
And most of all the Reaper community has the same spirit that Renoise's does, the hacker-DIY community-effort ethic that made my first fumblings with Impulse in the mid-late 90s that much more attractive
I plan to make some Renoise tutorial vids sometime soon, not really sure what topics really, except a video version of the kick-sample-from-scratch I posted n the first page. Im thinking also going through the basic structure and techniques I use in my own work, just to show how everything is laid out in each pattern and how patterns are built into more complex work, etc etc. Suggestions welcome .

I know Reaper is great. I can use it & from time to time I refresh what I already learned & maybe learn something new but I prefer cubase, logic and protools ..for things like sidechaining logic or protools are awesome Renoise definetly hit my heart, atleast for programming beats I won't miss it. I'ts fun to make hardcore jungle mad beats with it. Gotta learn more..Renoise is so much fun! Looking forward to your tutorials ;-) ..sounds good.. more complex pattern work yess

If you know a good screen-vid-capture program as well as a video editing program that lets me add text easily let me know .

Next will be a general run-through of basic psy stuff in Renoise, as well as screencap vid of my Live live setup in action, seeing as I do those things all the time anyway I might as well

Mate you made a very excellent video in a short time - very cool with all this zooms and hint-shields very well done.
I thaught I know already enough about renoise but just from seeing what you do in the video I'm very impressed. Interesting! The problem is, I hear no sound on the video.... I watched up to 5 minutes but there is no sound.. Actually one can imagine enough just from watching it but maybe you just forgot to put the sound into the endfile or something like this..
Or should it be without any sound ? .. I better wait for your response, before I watch it to the end. Would like to hear the changes when you modulate.
Respect

lol i made it with the main audio muted I didnt know that it didnt record but had a feeling.
You're not missing all that much, I didnt really take much care with the sound, I just wanted to illustrate the concept. The .xrns I lnked has all the renders included, I think (I havent shared .xrns in years so idk if the samples are still inside, if not Ill upload).
The zooms and whatnot are I guess just part of the program, I was surprised to find.
But the xrns is likely a better illustration than the video
If you just make a basic sinewave then repeatedly render it with the pitch envelopes shown, before too long youll have something kicky, and youll probably have no trouble figuring out what sort of details work best for your sound
Also if you want to get technical you can use multiple waveforms, layer multiple octaves, make individual envelopes.... I might need to make a vid for that, too, with sound this time This is really not a difficult concept to understand, but the description would be long.
Let me know if you have any questions about the basic technique I hope its a good foundation to build your specific technique from, and Id love to hear your results
I find tis good to save every render, its sorta like an undo that at least for me came in handy a few times when I got a litttle too fancy with it
.

i love listening music made on renoise or other trackers,we should make a topic with it...tracker are so old but still some of the most intresting and innovative music come out of these programs, thats a real paradox, i think it s cause it mostly geaks ,sound scientist ,audio hackers that use softwares like this resulting in some great experimental music
