Hi Guys
At the moment i am experimenting with speaker placement. Sure I know that the 30 degrees triangle is the one that works best, probably trial and tested by pro engineers throughout time, reaching the same conclusion.
Mine is set up at the moment 90 degrees from the screen infront of me. So my sitting position is in line with both speakers. So both are playing directly to my ears.

Set up like LS & RS.
Positives i've realized is that the music seems to be playing inside my head. So I can hear any bad frequency that there might be. Also the stereo image is also very audible. panning etc.
I know enough about production, so I still compose as if the speakers was on a 30 degree angle. i.e know about phasing issues and stereo imagery.
Is there any disadvantages that I should be aware of producing like this ?

Well - I've never seen it done like that. So it's difficult to know where to start
My usual test is put something in mono and make sure it sounds like it's in the middle. If it doesn't sound like it's coming from exactly between the speakers (and nowhere else) then there's something wrong.
However if you're only writing crazy dance music, maybe that test isn't valid.
You could grab a measurement microphone from somewhere (there's a cheap behringer one that works just fine), stick it in the listening position and run Room EQ Wizard over the setup ... see what it looks like?
Or mix a couple of records like that, if they come out sounding great maybe you're onto a winner ;-) |

You are confusing here something. The pic which you're presenting is a monitor set up only for surround system. There is LS and Rs or Front L and Front R 30° to the center. This is the audio engineering norm for 5.1. surround.
What you're looking for is 60° on sides and you in the sweet spot - this is optimal for stereophonic set up of speakers. 3*60° - an equilateral triangle.
A triangle like this:

...also what I really found interesting is that the pic from your link - for surround set up - is also not correct. I have checked out that it comes from a side created by a guy who describes himself very expirienced guy which is also is in the boston audio engineering society, the more I am suprised by this.
Surround system 5.1. set up .. there are the rears by 110° and not 90°.. really strange.. well however. https://soundcloud.com/shivagarden |

the important thing is where in the room the speakers are positioned, more than what angle are they arranged infornt of you |
