i have a circuit bent Speak & Spell. if you are into the extremely abstract, get one. you wont regret it. eBay has them from time to time. They are kinda expensive, but can do the traditional Speak & Spell sounds and create new glitchy, squelchy, staticy sounds.
edit: they are pretty easy to sample if you have a sound card. some manufactures have multiple outputs to suite your sound card too. it all depends on ho much you want to spend. also, you can get cheap ones at garage sales, flee markets, etc... just look around. its cheaper than buying a sample cd.
