Yes it's very sad and tragic but we must not forget those who cant take a flight back to Sweden, Denmark or Norway. The locals have to stay and somehow build a new life from scratch. I really hope the world and the politicians this time back up behind their promising words with action and less talk. Anything less would be shameless. |

Whats tragic is that we all concentrate on thailand because there are alot of sweeds down there, look at sri lanka, the death numbers are alot higher... we and they are all human beeings... not just sweeds...

I think it's even more tragic that while this for sure is a horrible disaster a even more horrible man dictated disaster take place in Africa where more than 2 million children die each year from water born diseases, starvation, AIDS, and Malaria. I dont see the press, our Gouvernments, our selves use so much time and effort as well as Aid to help those poor Children. We are very fast forgetting those who are not directly linked to our lives. It's shameful! |

I totaly agree with you HandA,
When millions of ppl die in africa no one talks about it, when 1000 sweds die (wich is very sad, thats not the issue) TV4, Expressen, Aftonbladet, etc.... only talks about that for weeks and weeks, and they dont let it go, its like when the minister was killed they only talked about that for weeks
And you cant get any other news at all
I think the swedish media are really unproffesional its really sad
Making full-on (specialy with a vb-1) is like playing FIFA in easy mode, you're always sure to win. |

An interesting article for those who understand Danish. Unfortinently it's the naked truth that we tend to talk and promise a lot of money and after that "forget" to live up to our fine promises. Just as it happened in Afghanistan and other places in need. I sincerely hope it wont be repeated regarding this disaster!

What makes me realy pissed is all these "fund raisers" do we realy know the money actually reaches asia unshortened???
I mean the red cross and other of the same size sure... but there are hundreds smaller ones...
do people actually have the stomach to make money out of this???
if so, disgusting...
RIP

Now the Danish Gouvernment wont have a 3 minute silence in Denmark for the Vicitms as recommended by EC. Shame on the Gouvernment! And it seem like all their fine promises about all the money they will donate to the victims have been taken from other fonds helping other poor people in the 3rd world. I knew it was too good to be true! I am ashamed to have such an Gourvernment in Denmark. Luckely I live in Sweden now where there's more humanity among politicians. |

HandA, I only partly agree with you about the 3 minutes silence. A few minutes silence can really be a beautiful gesture if used at the right times, but having 1-3 minutes silence more than once to one episode, you risk the beautiful gesture becoming a joke in my opinion. And then why shouldn’t we have 3 minutes silence for the AIDS-victims, the victims of hunger, war etc, like you also mentioned in one of your other posts?
That being said, I’m certainly no supporter of the government myself though

I fail to see why we should not have a 3 minute silence for the victims. All rest of Europe had it today except us. Now you say we already had a silence. When did that take place? Maybe I missed it.
Anyway I still don't see why we couldn't have the silence together with rest of Europe. Stupidity is the first thing that spring to my mind. |
