wind in trees, creaking trees, metal adjusting to heat, firewood pops and groans.

this spring we had a swarm of locusts come through. i was out strawberry picking and there was this low pitched hum and went up and down in tempo and freq. it was like an extended ray gun noise. apparently it's the female mating call. to this day i kick myself for not having a portable recorder.           Doof Local

get complete silence in your house or in a room then put a glass to the wall and listen to whatever is next door...things like conversations sound really trippy when they are kind of distant and broken...or maybe I'm easily amused..

I was recording out on my porch last night, the crickets were really loud...then a car started approaching from off in the distance as an airplane started approaching from the opposite direction.

Pulling it out of the field recorder now, I hope its good!

Sure , And i record them everywhere with my digital voice machine - Olympus VN 6200PC , And bring them in to Cubase .

Thats can be everything .. From an falling coin to a storming wins (Win is a win .. Same same - Will sty and be heard like win at the track + Even more real with effects) . When you go out side and record things all can happen , So you back home .. You have your own sounds to work on (Thats call creativity - Without using those net samples millions used , Then you got your own art + You create/Decide the order how/When come and where (Without any pendency with otheres sounds - Just YOU and your music) .

has anyone here done any sampling underwater (ie. with hydrophone)... or know where to find deep ocean sounds?

was swimming outdoors yesterday and there was a lot of ambient noise from the fountain beside the pool, found the contrast between having my ears out of the water and then the muffled sound inside the water to be quite trippy.

here are some that are not really daily life but still ever-present:

Planetary sounds recorded by the Voyager spacecraft

Arecibo radio telescope recordings

Contact microphone recordings on telegraph wires

SLINKIES!!!

Someone gave us a slinky for our housewarming present, and man slinkies make crazy lazer noises...

hold just one spiral of metal and let the rest fall as far down as it can, and have the end of it just barely hit the floor...makes a big long lazer noise!

jiggle it. more lazers!
