I drove all the way down from Berlin to Wuppertal for this one, and it was worth it. Infusion and Ticon live, as well as Tsuyoshi, Peter Digital and our verzy own D-Nox, Krelm and Tom Anteater on the decks.

I came during the end of Tsuyoshis set and was greeted by Son Kite "On Air", so the party was off to good start. After a few trips to the bar the events headliner, Infusion, started playing, and it was intense. They started with broken beats to progress to 4/4 and the crowd was digging it. Their live was really live, at least all the tracks sounded different than on Vynil and they had great interaction with the crowd. Unfortunately they didnt play the Kate Bush mix but it was still a great show.

After that Peter Digital played, and that was the highlight of the evening for me. Deep pounding trbal trance, he played some Son Kite and a preview of the new Atmos CD for example. I might add that the soundsystem was amazing, i was dancing right in front of the speaker and almost had my brain implode from the intensity of the soundwaves peter was producing. After going to parties in berlin for some time where they play only full-on, this was the best dj performance i have witnessed since last summer.

In the same time slot Krelm was playing some funky dirty breaks in the baSSment that i really enjoyed listening too, but that made me realize once again that im an unfunky north european who "aint got the groove" to dance to this kinda music.

after that Antaro laid down some fullon beats on the mainfloor, so i fled to the brauheer floor where Tom played some kick ass prog house and prog psy. Smiles on every face were the result and as my drunken haze got stronger, my memory gets blurrier, so the following is not in chronological order but a random assortment of impressions that were left after i woke up the next morning:

-I met some forum members for the first time in person which was fun, hello tom, krelm and christian, and we hung out and shared some laughs and drinks. We should to do that again some time, how about VooV?

-Ticons set was loud!!!! By the time they played the system was pretty maxed out, but because of their tight production it sounded awesome this way. I love it when music is so loud theat your brain explodes. Earpugs are for pussys!! Unfortunately, I didnt hear to well for two days.

-D-Nox played as well, but i dont remember what. I only remember him standing there and me dancing, so it must have been good.

- I spilled beer all over some girl, if you are that girl, sorry.

-All of a sudden im at this guys house after the party, and he plays SCHRANZ!!! I finally left wanting to chill and sleep, what do i hear, Schranz????????!!!!!! His girlfriend was in a shitty mood giving me evil looks, it was a strange experience.

That was about it, thanks Christian for organizng the party, thanks everyone i met there, it was fun!!!

This is probably the best indoor party I've been to. I'll skip the pre- and post-party festivities and just talk about the event itself.

We arrived during Tsuyoshi's set and the club was already absolutely packed. I hadn't heard him in nearly 5 years, so I was really looking forward to his set - he didn't disappoint. Really varied track selection somewhere between trance, techno, industrial, and house. I didn't like everything he played, but for he most part the tunes were nice. It was really nice to hear both "On Air" by Son Kite and "High Light Shifter" in the last 30 minutes. I really would like to hear him again, just with a little more room to dance.

Next up was the band that everybody was there to see - Infusion. They have really pushed the limits of what is a "live" electronic act. Sometimes it felt less like they were playing set songs than just having an electronic jam session. The music was fantastic, and they really owned the dancefloor. The tunes I recognized were totally different from the released versions and sometimes hardly recognizable. Worth every penny.

Unfortunately I had to miss the last 20 minutes of their set to get ready for my breaks set in the basement. Without going into too much detail, it was fun. German crowds are difficult to read when it comes to breaks, but I've determined they definitely like the harder and more mental borderline psychedelic variety. The DJ that was supposed to play after me never showed up, so I ended up playing for 4+ hours. I was fucking dead by the end of the set, but it was an experience playing for that long.

After the set is when the real fun (read: consuming way too much beer with Tom & Alex ) began. Unfortunately I had missed both Peter Didjital and Tom, but I heard great things about both sets. Tom - I'm going to bug you for a CD until it's in my mailbox, man.

Ticon came on at 10am and played an absolutely wonderful set. The more I hear their music, the more I love it. They played quite a few new tunes that were absolutely mindblowing. The best part, though, was seeing Peter jamming (or was it stumbling ) on the dancefloor just as much as everybody else. It is nice to see that the label managers, DJs, and performers that do this every weekend still have the love to get down on the dancefloor.

After Ticon was time for the man behind the party - D-Nox. He played great as usual - the afternoon begins to get a tad hazy during his set, but I remember seeing smiles on everybody's faces. After Christian was the birthday boy (Tobias) and Daniel Sun. It was my first time to hear the two of them (fucking east germany), and I was quite impressed. Great progressive tunes with a tekky flavor. Those who were disappointed to not hear the Kate Bush remix in Infusion's set were treated by Tobias laying it down 12 hours later.

Somewhere around 3pm I could hardly stand anymore and had to go back to the hotel.

All in all, it was a fantastic time. The music was wonderful and everybody we met was extremely nice. It was great to finally meet aje, Tom, Frederikflanger, Peter, and everybody in the hotel. Also great to hang with Christian, Tobias, and Daniel when they weren't running around being "responsible" (somebody's gotta do it). Definite huge thanks to Christian for giving me the chance to play what became a marathon set of breaks to the NRW crowd. And a big "Happy Birthday" to Tobias!

I definitely look forward to the next one.

See everybody at Voov!
