hey. i got a serious problem.
i need to find a way to isolate the sound in my room so that nothing is heard outside the room.
i have 4 walls 2 windows and a cealing. ( )
2 out of 4 walls are "outside" walls. so they are no problem.
The main problem is the door and it's wall. and the wall next to the door.
i heard i can buy these sponge acoustic walls or something and place them at all sorts of places... but will that make the sound be lower outside the room?
please help all you audio experts.

Hello!
Sphonge dont make your room soundproof!
It is a lot of work to get a room soundproof!
You basically need to build a room inside the room in other words a floating construction. The new room cant have physical contact with the old room. You have to isolate with some kind of material (rockwool etc.). Many Recording studios are built like this.. To make a long story short forget it, if you cant afford it.....
Good LUCK!

Here is a good tutorial for taming reflections within your room:
http://www.computermusic.co.uk/tutorial/hear.asp
However, this will not really solve your problem of the sound escaping the room. But then again, neither will the acoustic foam. Those will only control reflections in the room and will do nothing for the bass waves that will go right through the foam.
This next link is for a product that is suppose to soundproof your room, but it is expensive also.

All that money aside, here are some cheap solutions:
Hanging thick blankets against the wall will help a little.
If you have a futon, hang that.
Carpteting on the walls is another solution.
Those are the best cheap solutions I can think of to get you in better standing with your neighbors.
