Hey everyone,
I'm trying to record a demo using soundforge. I have RCA->Balanced 1/4" cables going from my mixer into my M-Audio USB Pro audio interface, and I have everything seemingly working fine from a hardware and software standpoint on that end.
However, when I get the actual recording, the left channel is coming out much quieter than the right channel... inexperienced, so while I don't think this is normal, if it is please let me know. And so I have an issue here where if I render the track it's much louder on one side than the other... not the effect I'm going for. Now, it would seem to me that logically there would be some "L/R Normalize" function to normalize audio volume between the left and right channels... or something like that. But yeah, basically I'm trying to get a clean recording... any help is deeply appreciated. |

Someone i know had the same problem.
It was a defective cable.
I assume that if your M-Audio has L/R input controls you already have set them both correctly.
Try recording from another stereo source to make sure that the problem isn't the souncards' inputs.
A friend told me once that the biggest mistake we make is that we believe we live, when in reality we are sleeping in the waiting room of life. |

Ok, I'll try recording directly off a CDJ with a plain RCA cable tomorrow, and see what it does. *shrug*
The interface, and the cables are essentially new (got them a few months ago, but haven't seen much use). Then again, the cables WERE cheap. I'll post with an update tomorrow if I'm still having problems.
Other than that, does anybody know of a post recording way to handle this? You know, like somehow balancing and normalizing the audio between L and R? |

Just increase the vol of the quiet channel in soundforge?
