hello ppl
i had a small doubt bout soundforge.. i am using version 7 right now..
if i am working around a mp3 file.. and i need to cut pieces out of it.. soundforge gives u the option of saving the cut pieces in a particular format.. the "save as" option..
my point is.. that if the main mp3 file i am working on is encoded using VBR then wat format should i save the new pieces i have just cut from it. . ?
if i say "save as mp3" will it try encoding that piece again into the mp3 format i specify and if so then will i loose more audio.. ? ?
or is saving it as a wave file better.. since it will decompress.. and no further loss in audio..
quality of audio is the priority here... and i wanted to know which is a better format to save the new cut out pieces in..

hey psykoactiv...
Save it to wav. if you save it to mp3 it will loose more. Of course the best is to have the source to .wav format instead of mp3.

when you work in soundforge, I beleive its standard workspace is in .wav format, if you save your bit cut from an mp3 in mp3, it will mp3 the wav , not mp3 an mp3.
But work in .wav anyway, its much better |

thats right ....when u load a mp3 file in sound forge it creates a temp file which is as big a the corresponding wave file u would get if u decompress the mp3 into wave ...
