Hello,

Have a little question to people who feel more experienced in this field - what's the big difference between those two soundcards Microbook and Phase? Why is there such a big difference in cost - Microbook costs 229 eur on thomann but Phase costs only 85? Although it seems that Phase has more things than in Microbook, as it has MIDI in-outs for example etc. So can someone please explain what is the big diiference between them, why i should pay more than 100 eur more for device that is pretty much the same than cheaper one. I'm looking for a soundcard for home-recording, electronic production + using it in live dj-sets aswell.

Thanks for sharing! Cheers! x)

I have the motu microbook and use it for live acts. The driver is very stable on win 7 64 bit and I am very happy with it. The reason why the motu is more expensive? Likely the adds converters and the better sound quality per se. Every soundcard type has its own coloration if you will, coloration is really a strong word but tha adds converters differ and that does make a difference, the other things are the driver, I once ( long time ago) had an m audio soundcard and the driver absolutely sucked, resulting in constant stability issues...           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:

For some reason my spellcheck keeps transforming adda into adds ... It is meant to read ad/da converters... Sorry...           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:

MOTU Microbook 2 vs. NI Audio Komplete 6

didn't want to make a new thread, but would be cool if smb could give a lil opinion about those two soundcards aswell as they are quite in the same prizing but abit different:

it's probably an old topic already and been overly discussed in recent threads, but i still wanted to make a new one, as i didn't get a proper answer in searching reviews from internet. So my story is pretty simple: i'm looking for a nice compact audio interface that i could have nice time in my home studio for years to come. I want it to have proper guitar hi-z imput as i play guitar and a good mic imput with proper preamp as i like to record different cools stuff aswell and as with more quality the better it would be. Also I'm doing sum electronic music on my computer with loooots of tracks n' different instruments playing at the same time so a latency issue is also important in that one. Another thing is playing live with the same gear, as to do dj mixes in live so should have defn 2 stereo outputs, and to play sum connected instruments live at the same time aswell would be a very good possibility.

So throughout my research i got only 2 soundcards that stayed on my sifter: MOTU Microbook 2 and NI Komplete 6. So my question is to people who might have experienced those two that which one you prefer or recommend. As they are quite much in the same prizing, i still kinda think more about MOTU because it's solid, small and with very good sound quality and good to move around. In the other hand AK6 has more stuff in it like midi in/outs for example. Anyway how important it is nowadays to have a midi in-output on a sound card, because today stuff mostly works with usb or line in anyway... and if i really need midi notes then i already have a midi-usb wire, so not much to do it in live after all? Also i have heard a lot of bad reviews about AK6 - about the sound quality and and how AK1 is even better than the newer one. MOTU in the other hand seems to like more to people. Ok enough of my thoughts, let the more experienced ones speak...

So what would be a proper audio interface for studio and live music.

Thanks n' cheers! x)
