I'm serisouly considering buying a soundcard
I have AMD K7 1400,520DDRAM.
My budget is 200$-400$.
I want to be able to connect my old synth (which means, the soundcard have to have MIDI support ) and a Microphone.

The M-Audio Audiophile sounds like a good option.
Any other recommendations?

i would go to:

- RME digi 96 pst ( or hammerfall 9636, but then u have to buy the midi extra. i use this and i m very happy ! the digi 96 is also very good, a bit worster in the latency but u ve got already a built-in midi )

- creamware luna 2
approx. same price as the two above, but with 3 dsp's. latency like digi 96

this recommondations are a bit more expensive than the audiophile, but i think it s worth the money.

that u understand me correct: i think the audiophile is also a good card (...if i can belive in some mags ), and it has for shure a very good price / value.

You can use USB MIDI Hub for midi support
(like Midiman MIDI Sport )

...i don t mean the hammerfall dsp, i mean the small one. easy to use.
price approx 100 $ more than audiophile. then the midi device to add so total 160 $ more in compare to audiophile.

---> like i said, if u like to get the most for the money go for audiophile.
i liked to pay a bit more and then i could forget my sc...

sc = SoundCard ;-)=

rme vs audiophile:

- better latency ( and a very low cpu-load )
- larger dynamic range
- adat
- very good support / tech info on page

...for me that s worth the 100 $

Audiophile is a great way to go mate.
don't ask too much questions.... buy it - I'm positive it will suit all your needs.           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

Timmy,

I will go with the advise of Medirium from the following reasons:

First: RME is better quality than M-audio and supplies superb support and drivers to it's users

Second: There is the better latency issue which is crusial as long as u use midi & audio together

Third: RME's converters are the best in the world at the mo. so obviously it is important as your final product might be better quality

You got my totally confused
Which one of the RME models that you recommended has MIDI support?

And, it seems like every one of you recommended a product from his soundcard's company

http://rme-audio.de/english/index.htm

the digi 96 pst is the one with built-in midi.
it has a bit a worster latency and no adat ( compare to hammerfall 9636 ).

check the page carefully, u ll find the product u like

otherwise http://m-audio.com/ for the audiophile (...i m not supported by any company ;-)=) i m supported by u all trance-lovers...

...it calls a bit different: digi 96 / 8 pst...

http://rme-audio.de/english/digi96/digi96ps.htm
( with midi, a friend uses it with much analog gear and it works pretty good )

http://rme-audio.de/english/hammer/d9636.htm

without midi. that s the one which i m using ( audio only )

Thanks.

I had an opportunity to buy a used Delta 1010 for a good price, and I took it!

I figured it's probably better than the Audiophile

Thank you all again for the attention.
I'm going back to my Delta now
