What is your budget?

And more importantly what are your needs?

well , i have a laptop hp too,i tried firewire 410 m audio but didt work. i got an echo indigo pcmia card with is very good and stable. but only recommended if u are only working with software. but if u wanna work with external hardware i think the emu 1212m pcmia card is a very good option, has extremely good converters, dsp accelerated effects, plenty of in/outs, mic and guitar preamps, also the breakout box is really cool. i think that for pc laptops, specially hp, pcmia is a best for stabillity and performance. firewire is for macs or desktop pc... usb is not an option for me. i think that with a new generation pc laptop with plenty of ram and an interface like the emu 1212m pcmia, the dream of a portable studio is now a reallity.           www.soundcloud.com/elektroakustica/sets/downtempo/
