I am stuck on a certain type of synthesis that I cannot figure out how to achieve and I feel like I am losing my mind over it:

At 1:13-14 is probably the clearest example. It is a mid-to-high range thing. I am thinking granular synthesis or a sampled gas flame, or perhaps even a paulstretched percussion instrument with distortion.

The sound I want to achieve is similar to that but with a longer sustain and higher pitch.

If You're talking about the single percussion hit . There are many ways to make a sound like that. You could even try an FM synth. I have heard presets that sound like that on Sytrus

FM, yes I did not think of that. I guess I do not know exactly how to proceed. It seems like a mid-to-high pitch, long reverb and cut out somehow, like half of it is phase-reversed or something.

If You use Sytrus or Fm 8. You have many operators, so it can be done.
One operator plays a sine wave sub and another operator modulates the first operator, but it has a decay envelope on its volume/ intensity. This makes a percussive transient followed by a sub bass...overall it sounds like a drum. there are many variations to this concept, to create a variety of drums. If You have FL studio. Look for the Timpani preset in Sytrus. it uses multiple operators to create a really nice timpani sound.Take some time to learn about FM synthesis. There are tutorials on Youtube. It is a great way to make 10000's of sounds. You can create metallic, woody, glassy and even very organic timbres with FM .

At 1.13 I don't hear a very clear sound. But it sounds to me like a single drum hit with alot of reverb. More dry than wet possibly. It you search for drum hits you ll find lots of suitable sounds. You ll probably already have many on your hard disk.
Some of the highs are eq'ed out and the same goes for the lows.           soundcloud.com/supergroover
