When working with a track for a long time i (hopefully) at some point get a sound quality that i like, but I allways get sooo disapointet when I compare it to the music I like to listen to, my mix is allways sooo weak, lacks loudness and fatness. So, I'm thinking... how much does a master do for the mix? is there somewhere to listen to some famous psytracks unmastered?
Anyways, here is a clip of some work in progress, is the sound acceptable?

Master does very much! but as you understand building a piece that is almost in no need for master is what we all are struggling towards! Creating music (especially psy) is an artform. U woulnd´t believe how long i can sit just to find the perfect hihat or clap to go with my track.

i will believe you.
your tune does'nt sound so weak.
besides. IF you have spend a real long time on it, and you think their is nothing more you can do, and you like it. invest a little bit of money for mastering. your art deserve it.
a good master engineer can use all kinds of techniques that can enhance overall sound.
like careful multiband-compression on the master can bring out specific frequencies range that your song lacks to sound full.
find someone with the right ear ,gear, and with lots of experience and ask the master engineer if he thinks there is something you should change before he starts to master.
if you decide to send for master,
please post the results or let me know, i'll be interested to hear the difference.

I think it sounds pretty good. What you could do is send one track that you are really happy with to Colin and ask him to master it. Or someone else. It might cost you a few bucks but than you know how it sounds like when it is professionally mastered. And then you can really compare it to released stuff.

I think everyone who makes music always want to get better SQ and when u critism your own song u always 10 times harder against yourself. Then when u listen to a random song. I think it is because u know all the sounds and u can split them upp and just listen to the pad or the lead or the bassline. so the song dosent feel so "fat" But when i listen to your song it sounds realy good!
AND remember if u never try get better sound u will never get better artist!. so its kidna normal u think your sound dosen't feel fat. i hope you understand what i mean with this https://soundcloud.com/sagepsy
