I know this is a very general title, but can some one explain what are the: "MUST KNOW" things in order to produce clean sounds in the studio ?           Innovation is Evolution

to have clean sound, u need to have a clean listening environment... This is actually the most important thing U need good monitors, good soundproofing and silent machinery. If u don't have this u can get all the fancy plugins and learn everything u want about EQ-ing, compressing, sidechaining, etc... Ur sound wont be clean cuz u can't even hear it properly... Headphones are an easy solution, but... U can't mix bass on headphones, it's simply impossible... Even with very good headphones it's impossible (maybe there are people with years of experience who can do it out of experience, but u can't trust ur ears to mix bass on headphones)

And then... Read this: http://www.dnbscene.com/articles.php?mode=display&id=79

i can't explain it any better then he does...

but maybe even more important...

always have really CLEAN pair of ears. Experts clean them up to 3 times a day.           "It occurred to me by intuition, and music was the driving force behind that intuition. My discovery was the result of musical perception"

Clean your MIDI keyboards too. It helps a lot to maintain a cleaner MIDI output.           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

It's true. If you have an inch of dust on your keyboard and your fingers travel at 5inches per second, then you've added 0.2 seconds latency as your finer compresses the layer. Seeing as most of us work in MILISECONDS every bit of dust counts.
