Hi all
I am very frustrated about the sound that I get at the end. I usually work with headphones and everything sounds fine, but when I finish something and switch to speakers It sounds totaly different. On some songs I don't even hear the bas. I have 5.1 speakers ( not intended to make music when I bought them ). So would a track sound the same/similar on other speakers like on my headphones ?! One expamle is this song I currently making.

Any advice please. Can I continue on headphones, or to buy new speakers ?!
Thanks

That is mixing issues.
Dont expect to make good mixes on a 5.1 speaker system, many of these systems is made to sound good and have very colored sound.
What kind of headphones do you have?.
I suggest you buy something of quality, it really improves the mixes when you can hear the actual sound, your translation to other systems will improve with that.

Had the same problem when I started and was mixing on headphones, so after 2 years I bought monitors to take mixes to the next level.

I can tell you that there is HUUUUUGGGEEE difference in sound when I play back a Synthbass from my DAW over headphones and monitors

Depending on the headphones the colouring of sound is massive like mentioned before for 5.1 systems, i also read that headphones nearly always have a bad bass reproduction

if you ask me i will say definitely buy some good monitors. personaly i cant work with headphones but i know many people that work with headphones and their tracks are great.

I'm completly sure that when you buy good monitors after some time when you know em well you will see a massive improvement in your mixes           ...into the wild....

try to use a reference, you need to know first how something that translate great sound on your headphone or speakers, then you make your stuff balanced similar. that kinda limiting but at least you should get ok balance /translation and with time it will get better and better.. trials and errors..

good monitoring is highly recomended !

i listened your stuff and it s not bad at all to me but balance could be better, if you use a reference i m sure you can improve a lot the mix for your next tune

Thank you guys for the input. I will definetly buy new speakers then, not profesional one, tho I like the "close sound" with headphones

you need to buy at least decent speakers, otherwise i m not sure it will be usefull, if you have good headphone use this till you get enought money for proper monitors imo; no need to buy low end monitors..

Nice sounds you have, even they sound now a bit tiny and far away. You have to get the feeling more close to the skin.

I dont know whaty headphones you have but i use alot headphones in productions, even it took time to learn to use them as reference speakers.
Best advise is to learn first how sound is living and moving from active monitor speakers, then learn to use the same sound from headphones. Because to me it sounds now like you dont know how sound is sounding as normal, when your example was not breathing normally at all.
I use two sets of speakers, active and passive ones plus headphones all the time at ones to get more perspective and reference to the sound.           - - - - -
