Sup guys
I was wondering if anyone would be able to help.
Recently analyzed a few commercial trance tracks. And I kept seeing these pixelated gaps within the frequencies ( see image below ).
Almost a spray effect or as if something is taking bites out of the high frequency range. Sound samples/pads and leads that I analyze are more like dust with no gaps @ all.
Does anyone know how this is done. ?? I am curious to the bone...

am not sure exactly what the question is, but it looks like a hi frequency rolloff with eq

I wish it was that simple.
I am talking about those tiny black dots ( which represents silence- And the colored parts are the frequencies of the mix. )
When I Analyze normal VST sounds- it shows up more in a dusty form, with no black dots.
Its like the frequencies of this mix has bigger pixels than normal sound samples. |

I don't really get your question, but I' try to answer what I think you are asking.
You have to go and learn some basic theory of synthesis.Simply put, each sound is deviced of many basic frequencies, which are the multiplication of some basic frequency.
This basic frequency is sine wave, and the more harmonicaly reach the sound, more of those "frequency lines" will apear on your EQ.
When you look at some track in your EQ,you see what sounds it has,and what you see is harmonies of different sounds, thats why it looks like red line/dark line/red line.
Now,usually EQ plugins are logaritmical,so thats why towards the upper frequencies the red line/black line in your EQ are more condenced then in lower frequencies.
From all the things I lost, that sandwitch cost me most :)

My guess is you are analyzing mp3 encoded music and what you are seeing are the artifacts of mp3 compression. Yes it rolls off highs and lows, but also adds small gaps. |

I think that is a place to start. I'll analyze some 24bit WAV and 64bit MP3's tonight and see where it leads. |

Maybe the dots are there because of the dithering of the track?
