use a stereo delay without sync, Also try different EQ settings on left and right, just to make the ear respond more to the difference.
you chould also incoporate chorus,
there are more methods, but basically stereodelay or panning, plus reverb sends with panning,
also for the effect to be a effect you must consider leaving other things/elements in the mix less effected by spatial effects. This is what will make you think sounds are jumping out, Cause no other sound did before.. i hope you get the picture, but this dont mean other sounds should be dry, only not more wet than the sound FX you want to achieve.
All timebased FX can be used, Also dynamic FX like transient shapers and distortion, Upward compression/Expansion... and Volume envelope automation, to physically make the sounds jump and adding Spatial timebased FX on the strong parts of the amplitude.
Also EQ the high mids to make them jump out together with the effect, be it subtle or strong, what works, without interfering with other elements in a destructive way.

I must add here, A good Filter Effect, like
Uhe - Filterscape,
Fabfilter Volcano
Even Steinbergs own Tonic or Stepfilter together with Freeflows methods would yeild good "jump" out of the speaker results..

Ohh Bitcrusher with delay & reverb will make the sound jump out of the speaker aswell, but it can also take way too much space with the grainy sound it creates.
Try and use it with moderation and also, try automate a stereo enhancer, from full width to mono, or from mono to stereo, this will make for a cool effect, like the sound travels, use this with a automated reverb for a full effect... Some fast expanding sound, like a in faded pad with cutoff opening up, works well with adding gate effect, like Mg triggergate. Now to make it more cool, add a delay on the tail, and make the effect go from stereo to mono, if you went from mono to stereo.. this is a great starter for introducing kick and bass, and you can make it continue and it sort of breath and expands back and forth..

my choice for this is...
Elevatya widerboy pro..then route to a group channel and send by a small percentage, cant b percific as it depends on your output and source,
on the group channel, deploy an izotope ozone stereo imager and spatial delay your bands and tweak till u get that out of the box sound.
this is my way,
if u do this on bass and kick frequencies , make sure you set the mono sum frequency 0-120hz with abit of de widening
after i use magnetic from nomad for sum tape warmth. compress if necessary.
this for me gets full results and sounds great without wider boy pro.
this is now a widening channel

Negative phase can make things get another dimension (sounds seem to come from behind/around you) - tends to get annoying if overused or done wrong. |

yep so make sure ya do it right, the right combo in the plugin chain is equally as important. alsong as u have a mono sum fix, dont see no issue spatial delaying bass freqs
its a matter of taste, these are only mixing techniques that work for me if i want a 3 dimensional sound and not use reverb
theres more tricks to use than just a boring stereo imager to spread a sound out with out the use of delays and long way round haass effects.
