hey, i would like to know what is the cost to isolate a room? doesn't need to be 100% sound-proof just enough for the neighbours not to complain. the room size is 3x4 metters and i'm planning to use not more than 100watts of sound.
i just want to have an idea, nothing exact.

Ill say that you cant isolate it for 100% for sure, but basic things such as rubber that close your windows and enterance door doesnt cost too much and give good results.

4-5000$ i think.
you can play 60db louder if its done properly. remember you will loose about 10cm on each wall - do you want this in such a small room? i have a room the same size, and i thought about doing this as well, but i live at the 4th floor in apartment, and the new floor you need to build on top of the old(separated with rubber) will have to carry the hole weight of the new room in the room + the stuff you put inside.
think something like this: you will need to make 2 layers of gypsum, then a little air, then another 2 layers of gypsum for the walls. the floor to mount the walls on, is a wooden frame on rubber feet you fill with concrete, then youll need an acoustic ceiling with ventilation to the old room.´
it would be nice as hell, but its expensive, and VERY expensive if you get pro. people to make it for you.
still interested? then i suggest you check out ethan winner's forum out.

no prob. Maybe you can do it cheaper, depends much on the prices on the materials @ your location, but i think the biggest price is the work you have to put in to it

wooden frames filled with IM475 , also make sure you have double glazed windows in sealed alumium frames (neoprene seals)
in the roof stick even more IM475, the final trick is to find every little air gap or hole and seal it....
you can cover the IM475 with gypsum or rhinoboard.....and make sure its all sealed good |
