Alright, so i've been thinking about psytrance over a large PA, and how the music seems to have different physical levels to it. meaning the weird noises come from a higher or lower level on more than an ear basis.... i think
question being this: is this something that the frequency relates to? higher frequencies "feel" higher in the air? or does this just have to do to speaker placement? reverb?
or am i totally bungling the whole question? |

speaker = tweeter (higher freqs) on top / subwoofer (lower freqs) on bottom

well, i know that.
my question is more about the frequencies being felt differently.
like, say you have two high freq leads going at once. can you make one of these leads sound "higher" in the air than the other one, depending on the frequencies? |

i dont know if this is what u lookin for, but from what i understand...
two high freq leads going at once u will need to do some changes in the mix in order to keep them from colliding with each other in the same freq...
1)move up an octave on one of them (then the lead with the higher freq will seem to be ontop of the other)
or
2)try spreading one lead on the stereo field and the other one keep it on center
the sensation u feel that one lead is higher in the air compared to another lead is created in the mix...(eq,volume,pan,and some effects)
reverb will put the sound in the background...

no prob ...
i'd also suggest reading the book The Art of Mixing by David Gibson...or you can find the video version to it on the internet...it explains everything i mentioned before in details.
