I followed an expensive sounddesign workshop once, but didn't learn a lot of new stuff. Working out the soundsonsound examples and reverse-engineering patches you like is much more effective if you want hands-on experience.

same same here abt workshops. did a course at sae. 6 months. later found a psy-producer to teach me individually. i am paying for his experience. sooo much faster better cheaper and really what you want. hopefully in the place where you live you can find someone. i mean: if your goal is to learn to make nice tracks; find a personal psy-teacher. but maybe you already make nice tracks and want to do a course, then this post is completely useless. |

if you want to learn to build your own synths, get Reaktor from native-instruments. Probably the best way to get into synth construction without having to learn computer programming or having to buy tons of analog synth components.
What could be better than throwing in a sawtooth oscillator, connecting it to a lowpass filter, routing it through a adsr envelope. Then strap it to a frequency analyser and a scope and voilá! Your very own secret synth laboratory!
Best way to learn is by doing it by yourself. A mentor to guide you is a bonus, consider this forum as one (use the search ) |

Clever words! I like to learn alone, some nice books/midis/softwares/patches and a good PC are what I need. |
