hi. i just bought a live platinum 5.1 soundcard, and although it's done already i would still like 2 get a professional opinion - is it a good soundcard 4 creating music (including trance)? is there anything better than that? |

well, dunno if it's still relevant, but...
All SB live cards are a good starting point for music making. If you have no equipment and you are using software like fruity loops, reason reaktor etc, you achieve pretty good audio latency resolutes: In fruity 30 ms, in reaktor 10 ms, in reason 20-30. The noise ratio, even in the higher volume levels, is quite low in comparison with the SB 128 or any older cards. The sound processing is done is 48khz/16 bit, which is good enough for software based music creating. Plus, you can use soundfonts and you get good FX like reverb, delay flanger etc. All in all, it's a good piece of hardware to start with, and it should suffice for something like 2-3 years before moving on (for me, at least:-)).
Hope i helped you or any other SB live user, Tom. |
