Hi there folks.
I want to ask the fellow members of this forum if I buy an R.M.E Babyface for my Macbook and a pair of Krk Rokit 5s it will make a good impact on my output?
I heard that it makes tracks sound way more digital.
My onboard sound is really distorted and I am using crappy speakers for monitors, so this really ruins my whole workflow. Thanks. |

the interface will provide you with better sound quality and the monitors are supposed to be flat in the frequencies so u can produce ur sounds in a more acurate way...also the monitors are good coz they have the low frequencies that usualy a normal HIFI wont have... so yeas it ll make a BIG difference...
but u also should consider where are u putin those monitors... coz its not useful to have a killer dynaudio monitors in a bad acoustic treatment room....
anyway u can tricky the acoustic of ur room in many ways if u dont have the money or just dont want to treat a room... like havin the monitors in an equilateral triangle position to u at least of 2 meters each side , have the tweeter of ur monitors in the height of ur ears, put some mattres in the room with priority in ur back so u can trap the basses frequency, make ur room busy with stuffs like furnitunes, books , rug etc... Hang some backdrops in the wall lol ....etc
u need to find the balance beetween a room reflectin sounds ( echo ) and a room without any reflection... u dont want a 100 per cent dried room but u also dont want reflections...
it takes time and ears .... its about u gettin used to the monitors u are working with and the room u have...and then u start to work in configurin ur room in an aceptable way for u....
so now yea u ll have a big impact in the output quality ... and ready to develop ur technics and creative in producin psytrance tracks..
anyway all of this s not really a must if u aint lookin 100 per cent for the profisional standarts...
i know people who makes tracks and play them that uses no soundcard at all and no monitors...but maybe thats because they are already trained and experienced in production...
later

I could never make music without my sound card and krk monitors. You simply can't hear good enough to make good quality music with normal earphones and integrated sound card imo |

Excellent response, just what I wanted to hear.
You are damn right Vermee, its not a must but I want to be professional, but my bad onboard audio and crappy monitors don't let me.
Good thing this equipment is not too far from being in my house. I just gotta be patient for another 2 and a half weeks.
Meanwhile I am going to organize my Hard drive, download some movies for sampling, the new Logic Studio, and new instruments.
Thanks for the reply brother.

Making the arrengements works just fine with bad soundcard. but when you for example want to hear that the bass has the exact amount of sidechain, volume, eq and so on, its impossible without |

That's exactly the problem I am having, my basses sound bad. Due to this issue.
Have you gotten better results with your gear? |

No doubts about it, you can't even compare before and after
Though if you buy small monitors (like krk5 that i have) they dont go to low in frequenzies so the absolute lowest bass you cant hear or maybe "feel" as good. But it's just for me to keep that in mind and know how the monitors work and then listen to other speakers that do go that low in frequenzies to make sure that isn't to much / to low. (The frequenzies i am talking about is under 50hz so it does not matter that much)
Though if you go higher to krk 6 or even 8(i will some day when i can afford it ) I think that gets better. |

I am also buying the Krk 5s. Couldn't afford more, but I will fine with trying these out. Especially after your response.
The before and after results is really going to make me glad I invested my money on this.
Do you have any demos yet, I'd be real happy to listen. |

if you re on mac maybe check the apogee duet 2 (no midi and digital i/o afaik) but the preamp and convertion are imo better on apogee products, apogee color is imo well suited for electronic music. |

Thanks it is, and I like it as well very much, still my goal is Psytrance but any music style is good, there shouldn't be any limits when you are a producer.
I'll hook you up with my E-mail and FB page, I'd like to share our progress and maybe ideas, or tracks, who knows. Check your Inbox mate! |
