Hello Guys!
So i have been working on there two tracks, the last one is something i threw together the 6 last hours tho, sound tweaking...

But i'd love ly life, if you could please rate this sound balance, as well as anything else on the tracks

I'm gonna send this in for my Media&Communications class. The teach is a n00b tho... but i'd still like to impress him.

Good enough?

New project [Really really empty frame]

Also feel free to discuss flow and sound balance in general. What are your tricks to maintain a good flow?           http://soundcloud.com/li-fe

I said I like it dirty, not muddy.

the balance is okay for the unfinished track

i would make the kick a bit more sharp. try adding 2-3 khz and 10 khz.

kick and bass are standing out of the mix too much to my ear. the last "big lead" isnt big at all and too quiet. it lacks expression and diversity. it sounds like a preset + a loop.

my advice is don't try to impress anyone with unfinished job.

+1 for making the kick more sharp

bass sounds like it has too much env for me. and the bassline sounds a bit out of tune in the second track. with that melody D sounds better as fundamental to me than A?

Second track, currently heavily inspired by Dirty Beat

What needs to be done to make it sound as aggressive as this?            http://soundcloud.com/li-fe

well besides heavy tweaking and good monitoring my guess is saturation / distortion. this is what may help you sound dirtier. check out FabFilter Saturn and SoundToys Decapitator. Play with Dry/Wet knob on those, in my case that was the key to using distorion plugins.

Honestly, i'm guessing Saturation
As i tweaked my bass for 8 hours to make it sound that similar, i'm gonna check out Saturn as its compatible with Logic

I'm missing out on the mid low's obviously on the last track

I can hear the fuzz difference even on my mac speakers

it sound ok don't want to offense you ! but the mix is a bit off here mate, i mean its not great production ,but after it s taste too..
imo it s cause of your monitoring environement that is lying to you a little (monitors, room acoutics, headphone whatever you use)

yeah sorry mate my comment was not very helpfull, a/b to some tunes like logic bomb checksum , the grid , tron la cremosa for example, you will hear your mix is a bit off, a/b better than my words to describe sound for me with my poor english .

I'm not offended by your comment at all haha!
Don't think that
i know you was not really trying to be offensive

I usually compare mine to Indra's tracks though

And i know there is a mixing quality difference,
but i'm trying as best as i can on earplugs for like 120$

Does

I'll go make love with a monitor tomorrow ok? i'll update the track you guys check ok? Love y'all!

man, you've nailed the composition and that's a lot. your flow is almost fine, it is just production is what needs to be better. but it will become better with time. production skills are the same like sports or maths or any other. you can't just go and do rocket science without proper training, or do basketball versus NBA players. go ask any NBA player whats harder - mixing or hitting the basket?

train your ear, learn stuff and it will give you great results. heads up!

you make this on earplug , you arealdy get ok sound !
i was saying you need top upgrade monitoring/room acoustics it will be more easy , when i listened to it ,to me it was sounding like your monitoring environement was not great .

what could help you is to use a analyzer like voxengo span , configure it to get good resolution , a correlation meter and compare your tune to other ones.
