Hi to all!
I'm thinking of studying music production and sound in a pro way.
I live in Israel, and I know some school in my country, but I'm more thinking about Europe.
Does anybody here studied\know which are the best places to study these subjects?
I need only serious answers from people who really know what they are writing...
Thanks!

The best place to study sound in Israel is @ Sapir College which is located near Sderot.
They have a 2 year course which will grant you "Handasay Sound" diploma.
There is a big variety of topics that you study there.
Check their site for more info:
www.sapir.ac.il
If you want a short courses than i recommend you Resonance school. It's allocated in Tel Aviv and you can find more info at:

PM me if you need more info

Hey man, i had the same problem. There are no proffesional schools in israel and i dont care what yoav gera thinks....
You may learn some subjects that are tought in better schools but the diploma you get is worth shit.
What i did is looked around the net and i found SAE.
Sae stands for The School of Audio Engineering.
They are spread all over the world. They have schools all over the world and their diploma is known all over the indistry.
After a tour of the school (the amsterdam branch) and a chat with the dean of admissions i can tell you the you wont find any other school in this level for that price....im starting next april.
check it out at http://www.sae.edu

Das Fung--> Sound Engineering is not only about sitting in the studio and playing with Cubase.
There are so many places to work with audio nowadays that i don't even know where to start.
How about the Live PA? Movies? Commercials? Theatres? Radio? Multimedia Design? There are a lot of places to work at. If you are good in something you'll find work. If you go and study something that you don't like just to feel financially safe later that's your choice.

Anakoluth... not just diploma - a degree.
About studying sound, it's prolly the best thing I can study for myself - but I think that studying it, would squeeze all the juice out of it for me. And then something that I really love would turn into money pressure job, without coming back home and working on sound again.
so... ur choices of course.
And Pavel, yes it is extremely hard to find a good job for life with this kind of degree. My brother finished Berklee in Boston, which is prolly the most known music school in the world - with 2 different degrees. Still... its hard to find a job - and that´s in US.
cheers.

hi there:
i'm also going to learn sound engineering , i thought of going to learn abroad at this SAE which could be nice and very pro' indeed , but it's very expensive.
All the places in tel aviv have mostly Sound engineering studies only , their level is not that high and their diploma is not that good if you try to find a job for your life.
in sapir and in miclelet haemek (were i intent to learn) you leran sound engineering in a quite good level plus you mix it with other subjects like 'communication' 'sofware engineer' and so on so you also get a B.A. and not only a sound enginner diploma.
That first degree B.A. can open many doors for you meaning if you don't get jobs in your desired musical field, you can look for work in your general B.A. degree.
here is the link for miclelet hayarden :

I got friend who graduated sapir college with sound engineering, he can't find a proper job and now he works for very low money.
also got a friend at SAE college, Berlin. he is a "reason" software supervisor there this college rox but expensive.
i think i wanna learn it too, but i know it will not really bring me some cool job, just for self knowlege and stuff, that always interested me.

If you want to work in a pro recording studio, it might be a good idea to forget a diploma. I have it on the authority of an ex-professional freelance studio engineer (now a respected artist in his own right and no stranger to this forum) that job applications from people with diplomas from SAE or similar institutions often get thrown straight in the bin without being read. The reason is that someone who has already learned ways and methods of doing things at college will have a hard job unlearning it and learning the way the studio wants things done, and it is better for the studio to employ someone hyper-keen but with no formal knowledge who they can train from the beginning to do things the way they want.
Also sound engineering diploma students can apparently be pains in the butt to work with as they assume they know it all... after all, they just spent 2 years and $3000 at a college!

Colin - with all respect ot what you heard - I wanna ask you - Do you think that at Sony or other big studios there are ppl that not finished at least 2nd degree???
i am quite sure that most of these are 3rd degreed ppl who finished really big places for sound engineering around the world
