No Sae course is difficult..at least for most people..

its just very basic information and its way overprised..

well you might get a chance to record some stuff on a ssl 4000 or I-con control or something similar..but imo its just a big overprised place to play..

at least in germany this is not really woth the money since its not really accepted by any studios or whatever as kind of special skill or something..

it even has a bad taste on it most of the time..cause too many idiots come out , go into the studios, pretend they are the big engineers and wanna tell people who are into this business for more then 20 years f.e. ( when there was no SAE course) how they should make there job etc..

i actualy have done the course as well and must say soundwise this tutorials gave me way more mixing skills than whole SAE..

http://www.steinberg.net/de/products/legacyproducts/3rdpartyproducts_mixingtutorial.html

some interesting parts were there about routing and stuff like that but nothing that was worth the price for the course..

better try to find a studio where you can make a praktika for a year or something and then if you decide you really want to work in that business buy some equipment for that money..but just to take your psytrance production skills to the next level its way overprised..imo

working next to the course might work in the beginning but latly you need to be in the studios to practise and at least we had not much time so training hours where rare and you have to be flexible with your time and so on..

and sure it won`t work without training the lessions they give you, even in the beginning but its basically all time based tests and multiple choice theory tests..so nothing to compare with a real university or kind of similar school..

well, at least something positive for me was, that i got a place of work for a pro audio seller..but that was in the end not because of my SAE skills rather than kind of softskills, willingnes to learn all the special products and behaviour infront of customers and last but not least selling skills..

so thats not the biz i wanna work in again due to several reasons..and working in a studio is even not what i want..cause i don`t want to work hours and hours in the studio for some school bands or something..

and due to the fact that there are heaps of godd technicians and just a very few good musicians here in germany the market is overfloatet and it is even more harder to make a living with basic recording bands and so on..

sure there are other areas in the sound field..like post production wich is very interesting, but it will even take years if you can make a good living of it and have a family or something..next to your very rare spare time when your not in the studio to fit the deadlines..

don`t know for you, but i decided to start another study and just keep all that knowledge for me as a hobby..

i don`t know how it is in spain or other countries but around here f.e. you won`t get a fix working place, or at least its very hard to find one..95% of the technicians here are self employed..and that is even not a good starting point if you wanna have family or something..at least in this biz..

just my 2 cents...           -------......-------...-..-..-..-.-.-.-.-

agree!!!!!

except the thingy possibly meant wrong: SAE (course) should be not that difficult.

have to say i thought about the course for electronic music production last year. it took a while to decide that this is more profite to others than to me.

but have to agree the price is more than hard for the few basics u learn in that course.

maybe sense makes to study there and finish with diploma or master degree. but these courses r really only for absolutely newbs and u will learn only few basics there for really lotta money.....

think it´s even more worth to invest that money for books n stuff (maybe the one´s they work at SAE with) and get that stuff all read and understood by yourself. there´s a lot of useful stuff out there startin from the very beginning. and u should get some more books for that money

imo

+1 .. im there , have the same opinion, nothing more

no one will show you "secrets" in there, everything is too general, like youre a moron or something, and they teach too much protools and generally there is a "promotion" thing in the air in there
im finishing on june, and find nothing interesting in there no matter the huge ssl and the studios, prefer to work in my room

Anyway if you have a friend whos mixing engineer and a good bibliography, youll learn the basics and much more, think of that even if you finish the school, you might need to read those books as zork said about steinbergs tutorial etc

and its just to damn pricey
everyone have the same opinion so far, i like that we dont eat bullshit and focus on the sound.. too "surface" information for noobs there

Dam it....
I always thought it was worth, but with these comments, I begin to be repented of my decision. It is a lot of money that I spend in this course + housing + travel ...... etc. ....
I see that the only thing that will be good is only the mackbook lol =).... and of course have the chance to work in good studios.
Ok thanks people for your comments and            Main Fusion aka Dj Adhara

the audio engineering in sae really is a bitch !
i did mine in london in 05 and i had no life cause i wanted to do good there..
but..i do agree that most of the stuff they teach is a basic knowledge of everything..if i had a choice now i would dp the EMP(electronic music production)

do not do the audio engineering if all you want to do is make music and maybe some day perform..

pm me if u want any more detailed info

well if you already have bought it do the best of it.. and learn their mixingdesk in and out, their Effects and routing... make something good out of it.. and if you get the chance record and mix a psytrance track on a big 48 channel SSL board

yes for sure....i will try to make a psytrance track there....is the only thing i want to make =)....Tranceaddict
Im started this course, because Imagine that I have no future in my solo career, could at least work in a studio or something like mastering eng.. But no doubt that my first goal is to produce trance.
Thanks again people...
I "love" you guys..... =)
Isratrance, the best course in the world for sure....

i also did the engineer course... for electronic music production it wasnt really helpfull but still you can learn a lot of interesting stuff & also get opinions from pro's...
they were always bitching about cubase & pc in general, so i had a hard time with them! i really cant stand this mac elitism
i also met nice dudes there with same interests, and generelly got involved with all this production stuff very fast, so for this it was nice...

indeed its a way to overpriced but make the best out of it, it really can be helpfull!

yes i started the course in 2008 in amsterdam .
those dudes are really something .
i ve stop after 1 month it sucks ,and expansive for what you learn .and don t think you ll be able to record on a ssl or things like that , only engineers course students can .
no organisation ,and cheap gear for producer course ,it sucks ...
instead i ve got and online course for a tenth of the sae course price .
i would really advice this solution as you'll have all infos and will be able to work when you want at your rythm (no other students really beginers who are asking ;"what s the gain knob for ???????").
really usefull and not too expansive .
i ve done an audio ingeneer omline course and got a whole lot scale of infos for less than 300 euros ,not even 1 month at SAE for 4 hours course per week !!!!
many avaliable on the net .so this way is interesting just for the knoledge you re looking for ,of course the meeting nice dudes factor here is inexistant .....

cheers
