Sony Sound Forge 8.0 does not support 96/24 kHz?

When I try to play the wav file (96/24 kHz) in Sound Forge 8.0 I get this error:

"Microsoft Sound Mapper does not support 96,000 Hz at 24 bits."

I find it weird... can someone tell me why I can't play it in SSF8?

It is a regular wav file I mixed down from Cubase SX.

Thanks in advance,

Flake.

I think Microsoft Sound Mapper is trying to play the file through your on-board sound card, which is probably unable to cope with anything better than 16-bit, 44.1KHz audio.

Go to Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices, and check which sound card is set as the default. If you have another sound card, try selecting it here.

You can also select which sound device SF will use in the Options -> Preferences -> Wave window in Sound Forge.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering
