Sonnox compressors compared to real hardware...

I'm thinking about getting the Sonnox Native Bundle, but I don't know if Hardware is a better choice for the same price... Is the sonnox compressor, limiter, and eq as good as some high end hardware? |

I have not used them myself. I am not sure how many people here will have experience of them and lots of high-end gear. For the price you may be able to get a decent channel strip. And it may sound a bit better. IT is quite subjective to how much better. Often I have found that the software versions sound very good when not pushed too hard.
The thing is though. one channel strip will mean you will have to work on one track at a time. Often when making adjustments you want to do it in context of the other elements. With one channel strip this can make it more tricky. SO you may find the need for some good software as well.
I think I would suggest some good software to begin with as this will allow you to run many instances. Then maybe later upgrade to some outboard to further develop your sound. You may find you get good results in the box anyway. |

The Sonnox plugins actually are a re-issue of plug ins made in 1990 or smth when Sony tried to get a foot into the top-notch audio segment and attempted to build the ultimative digital Console.The console used the oxford plugins but didnt sell very good afaik.
really hot plugins,perfect for digital mastering i think.

the sonnox stuff is really good but as far as software stuff goes the UAD gear, especially the compressors, are as close as you're gonna get to the real thing.
theres a special on atm for the UAD-1 cards at a few places for $99 US down from 499, plus you get a $100 voucher to spend on plugs. throw in another 50 US and you can get the 1176ln compressor plugin which is easily the best software compressor |
